COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Smoked oatmeal stout with toasted Scottish oats, smoked malt and lapsang souchong tea. Brewed for Craig Garvie for the big 10k!

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours black, smoky nose. smoky chocolate taste, roast malts, dry, a bit too fizzy.

Bottle @tasting. Pours brown hazy almost cloudy. Tea (smoky) and spices on the nose, its a nice smelling beer, better than the taste. It’s a bit meh on the palate, light and just not great, a wee bit of a disappointment after the smell.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours hazy dark brown. Smoked tea aromas, oats there too. Toasty on the taste. High carbonation prickle. Good stuff though.

FUCKEN DELICIOUS TOTAL UNFUCKENTENUFUCEKNATED. Theese is fucken deelicouz. Christ allfuckinmeeightee. Poppy smokey bitteresh, like mate. So fucken fizzy wow. You kiddin awn mate? Yaaas. Unfuckingsulty as you’d like. Like you’d actually brew a tea bag and black tea.

Bottle via trade with Theydon_Bois, thanks Colin. Pours a deep blackish brown body with thin off white lacing. Aroma is smoke, sour wheat and spice. Mouthfeel is medium to thin with notes of earthy smoke, light roast, sour wheat, spice and herbal flowers.

Bottle @ Chriso’s pre-GBBF Shindig. Medium brown with a small head. Some roasted coffee beans. Toffee. Cocoa. Strongly over-carbonated to the point of fault, which detracts from the raspberry and cocoa flavors. Showing signs of oxidation. Medium body. Overall, meh.

Bottle from a trade with Craig. I was aware of the gusher history on this beer, so I wisely opened it in the sink, still I managed to save a third of the bottle in a glass. Murky brown/black with lots of floaties and a huge foamy tanned head on top. Aroma got light smoked notes, liquorice and roast. Taste is malty, weak well integrated smoke, ash,tar and liquorice. Fizzy mouthfeel. Lingering light salty liquorice, not all bad this one.

Thanks to Mr Garvie himself! Gusher! When under control it’s an opaque dark brown beer with a small pale tan head. Palate is light, airy and pretty dry. Mellow and dry dark malt. Pretty mild smoke. There is a different type of tang here that I would not normally associate with a porter so I assume is the tea. Finishes dry. Interesting but (cough) not my cup of tea!

Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2013. Old sweaty feet aroma. some soft roastyness. Chestnut brown colour with a small cream head. Decent. Flavour is nutty roasty toast with some earthy.
