3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft during lunch at Campground Brewdown. Poured a light amber body with a small to average foamy super light beige head. Aroma of subdued citrus, light toast and with some warmth grapefruit. Medium to full body with bubbly carbonation and some noticeable alcohol heat. Flavor of grapefruit, rind and alcohol. Alcohol is a bit to apparent on this one.

Transfer from BA rated on 1-21-12 -
Had on tap at the alehouse.
Appearance – A nice amber color which forms a nice head. The head fades away to give a nice persistant foam and some decent degree’s of lacing.
Smell – A big hop aroma of citrus and pine meets the nose. A bit of the maltyness works it’s way thourgh, but is weak in comparison to the big citrus and pine.
Taste – The hops hit you right away. They strike big yet give way to some more malty flavors with a few sweet, caramel and toffee, flavors working their way in. They again seem to be lost in some piney hop taste which comes back toward the end of the taste. For a ~9 % not much alcohol flavor.
Mouthfeel – A nice body, although a bit thinner then would be expected for the the abv. It has a moderate level of carbonation and has a smooth flow in the mouth.
Overall - A very nice double IPA. It is very good and a very drinkable beer (which at ~9 abv may not be the best), but kidding aside quite delicious.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
In short: A well balanced easy to drink golden Double IPA.
How: Tap at brewpub.
The look: Clear copper body topped by a small beige head with good retention and leaving lots of lacings on the glass.
In long: Nose is mostly fruity hops with some toasted cereals. Taste is crunchy toasted bread, croutons sensation, crunchy caramel, refreshing fruity hops with a smooth and tasty bitterness. The advertised 10% abv is very well hidden. Quite easy to drink, actually this one was easier to drink than their smaller Double Rainbow IPA which was a sticky dry-hop bomb. A nice beer from this little brewpub located in a small Pennsylvania village where people still using computers running Windows 7 and Windows 8 while us Canadians are already on Windows 95.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap, at brewpub. Pours a clear dark copper body with a one finger frothy light beige head that had excellent retention. Intense citrusy hop nose battles with the thick caramel sweet malt for supremacy. I’d call it a draw. The flavor leans toward the malty side for me, caramel sweetness with a touch of brown sugar on the finish. The hops are pretty bitter with a slight menthol like quality on the finish after the citrus fades. Thick and chewy texture with moderate carbonation that helps cut the thickness a bit. Lingering caramel. Not bad, a little too heavy on the sweetness for me. I could go for a bit more aroma hops as well.

Pint at local pub. Nice amber color and pours with an inch of foam. Nice hoppiness and the taste lingers long after. Very nice finish.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy deep orange with a white head. Aroma of sweaty hops, citrus, and sweet caramel malt. Flavor of oily, grassy hops, sweet caramel malt. Not too sweet for a 9%-er, just right, and pretty tasty!

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUL 22, 2014 Sampled on draft at Zeno’s in State College PA this beer poured a dark orange-amber color with a small khaki head that lingered and produced some lacing. The aroma was very strong sweet grapefruit, lemon and pine with undertones of pineapple and fruit cocktail. The flavor was sour caramel, pineapple, greapefruit and pine with notes of lemon and peper. The beer was fairly dry with a long hoppy finish. Fairly full bodied. Very nice.
