On tap, at brewpub. Pours a clear dark copper body with a one finger frothy light beige head that had excellent retention. Intense citrusy hop nose battles with the thick caramel sweet malt for supremacy. I’d call it a draw. The flavor leans toward the malty side for me, caramel sweetness with a touch of brown sugar on the finish. The hops are pretty bitter with a slight menthol like quality on the finish after the citrus fades. Thick and chewy texture with moderate carbonation that helps cut the thickness a bit. Lingering caramel. Not bad, a little too heavy on the sweetness for me. I could go for a bit more aroma hops as well.

Pint at local pub. Nice amber color and pours with an inch of foam. Nice hoppiness and the taste lingers long after. Very nice finish.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy deep orange with a white head. Aroma of sweaty hops, citrus, and sweet caramel malt. Flavor of oily, grassy hops, sweet caramel malt. Not too sweet for a 9%-er, just right, and pretty tasty!

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2011 Sampled on draft at Zeno’s in State College PA this beer poured a dark orange-amber color with a small khaki head that lingered and produced some lacing. The aroma was very strong sweet grapefruit, lemon and pine with undertones of pineapple and fruit cocktail. The flavor was sour caramel, pineapple, greapefruit and pine with notes of lemon and peper. The beer was fairly dry with a long hoppy finish. Fairly full bodied. Very nice.
