3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the Knick. Big hoppy aroma, grassy, piney and pretty fresh. Sweet notes of caramel and some toffee. Roasted hint of coffee, too. Dark coppery amber clear with thin off-white head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Starts mildly sweet with toffee and biscuit, tons of piney grassy hop flavor and a big bitter finish. Mild alcoholic sweetness and warming. Finish is mild with sweet nutty notes and muted bitter hop resin. Fairly clean after.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Transferred from BA on 3-9-12 -
Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice glass
Appearance – Served a darker reddish color nearly boarding on brown. The head upon serving is quite thin and fades to leaves a very thin persistent film on the brew with a light amount of lacing on the side of the glass.
Smell – Malty caramel sweetness is the most potent in the nose. There is a little bit of roastiness in the aroma as well mixed with a decent aroma of some nice hop smells. The hop aromas are mostly lemony citrus in nature with bits of pine and floral aromas mixed in.
Taste – The taste matches the nose quite nicely. A somewhat sweet caramel flavor upfront giving way a bit to some more roasted malty flavors (although the roast is light in comparison to the sweeter). Toward the middle of the taste the hops really come to fruition. The pine and lemon hops provide a nice balance to some of the caramel malt; which in the end leave a nice aftertaste in the mouth.
Mouthfeel –The body is somewhat chewy with a lighter level of carbonation. These attributes of the mouthfeel make the beer coat and sit on the tongue creating a very drinkable and soothing brew.
Overall – A nice beer with some good balance from its malty body/flavor mixed with a bit of spiciness of hop. Very drinkable and one to try if you get a chance.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 20, 2013 Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a dark red-orange color with an enormous creamy orange-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was strong pine, grapefruit, lemon, Sweettart candies and pepper. The flavor was strong pine and grapefruit with notes of lemon, pepper, nut, tons of caramel and followed with Sweettart candies, perfume and lingering pineapple. The finish was long, sweet and hoppy with grapefruit, pineapple and caramel lingering. Fairly full bodied and the alcohol was well hidden. Excellent.
