Draft during Saturday lunch during Campground Brewdown. Poured a medium to thinner black body with a smaller foamy light beige head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, hint of cream, roasty overall. Medium body with stronger tight small bubble carbonation and a lingering burnt aftertaste. Flavor is super roasty, notes of burnt toast, coffee grounds and bitter dark chocolate. really nice.

Transfer from BA reviewed on 1-29-12 - Had on tap in pint glass at brew pub. Appearance – A dark colored brew. Not pitch black, but just a few shades below it. It has a billowy off white head which slowly fades after time. Smell – Roasted woody malt, cocoa and a bit of nut are present. Some hop and a bit of carmel work their way in toward the end of the aroma. Taste – Coffee with a slight amount of nuttiness. A sweetened chocolate and a bit of caramel work their way in with a bit of bready maltiness toward the end. Mouthfeel –The creaminess in the mouthfeel is a bit more then expected from the appearance. I was expecting something a bit thinner; a nice surprise. The carbonation however was a bit low which took away from the mouthfeel a bit. Overall – A nice porter and with a bit more carbonation and possibly a bit more bitterness in flavor it would have been quite fantastic.

I’m not feeling this one. Has some faint maltiness on the nose and it pours very dark brown with a light brown head. Not a big flavor profile on the tongue. Finishes clean.

Draught at the brewpub. Pours brownish black with orange extremities, lovely tan head. The aroma is burnt toast, some bitter chocolate, a strange smoky charred note, and some earth. The flavor is burnt toast with a sweet malty background. Nutty notes come out here and there. Finish is smooth and semi-sweet. Par.

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2011 Sampled on draft at the brewery this beer poured a black color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma was strong roasty and bitter coffee. The flavor was Bitter, roasty and dry with strong notes of gritty expresso. The mouthfeel was smooth. The finish was long, dry, bitter and roasty coffee. Too dry for my liking but well made. Solid.

Sampled at Pints for Pets. Dark brown / black with a dark tan head that doesn’t last for very long. Roasted molasses and nutty coffee aroma. Flavor has some burnt smoky nut roasted coffee. A little bit of fruitness in the flavor. I didn’t really think it had all that much body. The overall flavor was solid though.
