COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bold, malty year-round barleywine. Light in color but a big grain bill gives it complexity.

32oz growler shared by after4ever, thanks Tom! Hell yeah, my first Elkhead beer. Clear caramel brown with a small tight off white head. Nose is sweet malty with some floral apricot notes. Cereal, apple and honey flavors. Light body and drinkable 10.5. I need to head down and check out what else these guys are doing. Thanks Tom!

Amber-bodied, and rather flat. This beer is also accompanied by a wet sock characteristic. Honeyed malt aroma and flavor. Low overall conventional fruitiness for a barleywine. Musty quality of age. Sweet. Funky hops. A bit off-key for my tastes.

Growler; thanks Tom!! Pours clear, light copper with trace white head; candy apples, caramel, dark fruit and sweet brown sugar; texture is a little flat and body thin, but drinks very smooth with being cloyingly sweet; quite fruity and dangerously drinkable; need to visit these guys sometime and try this on draft

Growler, courtesy of Ibrew2or3. Poured a clear, deep golde color witha small white head, looks very much like apple juice. The nose is very fruity with big notes of dates, fig, raisin, and grain. Full body with a smooth mouth feel and flat carbonation. Flavor is very sweet and fruity, big notes of dried dark fruit, malt, light brown sugar and caramel. Finishes sweet with warming alcohol.

32oz medicine bottle growler courtesy of THE man, bvc. I owe you Brandon. Thanks for sending this my way. Pours clear deep gold with thin white head. The aroma has thick graininess, apples, dates and raisins as well as a thin layer of musty earthiness. It smells a little like wet dirty date skins. The taste is pretty sweet and becomes fruity with apples, pears and dates and then picking up notes like modest graininess and honey sweetness. Tasty interpretation.

Medicine bottle filled at the brewery this afternoon and cracked this evening. Pours a crystal clear medium amber with a dense, creamy tan head. Head disappears in short order, leaving no lace or legs. Big sweet caramel and floral nose, showing a fair bit of residual sugar. Seems to have a bit of sweet nettles or other floral additions of some sort, judging by the nose. Creamy medium body. Soft carb. Flowers, grass, caramel, toffee, and sugary notes on the mid-palate. Oddly, for all the different sweet notes, it’s not that it’s too sweet, although it could use some drying notes as a balance. It just has a lot of different sweet pieces hanging around. Mild sweet finish. Interesting stuff. Be interesting to see where some are, or some post-ferment treatments like a barrel or something, or both, might take it.
