YK23 (253), Haifa, Israel Aug 17, 2006 Updated: Aug 25, 2006Cask at GBBF 06’: very sharp and bitter, more then the usual for a porter but not hoppy, all coming from the roasted malts, very intense and rich, very roasty, some liquorice, strong bitter aftertaste, not easy to drink but still, a great tasty porter. Fin (3382), Merton, Oxfordshire, England Jul 17, 2006 Cask conditioned at Merton Beer Festival Fri July 7th 2006. Very dark beer in fact black with barely a head but what there was appeared beigeish in colour. Roasted coffee bean aroma with a hint of bitter chocolate, flavours are much the same as well but this really is the Geoff Capes of the Porter world and takes no prisoners. Great bitterness follows and malty flavours sneak through every so often, along with their July Morning this was a storming beer from Eastwood and Sanders. imdownthepub (5089), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Jul 9, 2006 Cask conditioned at Merton Summer Beer Fest 06. Black beer with restrained beige head. This is a big, heavy, dark and rich Porter, certainly complex with a juicy fruitiness, I suggested Damsons, that flows into a tartness and a big finishing bitterness. This was my wifes, Sandras, favourite beer of the festival and I can see why. It was interesting throughout and very complex, a particularly interesting beer, however it was my 2nd favourite at the Festival. leaparsons (4659), Leicester, Leicestershire, England May 11, 2006 Cask, Leicester Fest 06. Black with a small beige head. Aromas are earthy and sweet with alcohol. Spicy with a rich, bitter roast character. Flavours are earthy and rich coffee with liquourice and warming alcohol. Plain chocolate bitterness with some fruitiness. Smooth on the palate with a pleasant oiliness. A powerhouse of a porter. Geiserich (1775), Vienna, Austria May 7, 2006 Bottled:</br> Roasty maltiness, coffee and bitterness. Black color. Very nice creamy, brown head. Deep roasty, intensive bitter coffee flavor. Malty with with light sweetness. Applenty acid. Dry, very bitter end. Very nice, but all in all too bitter (coffee flavor) for me. omhper (12155), Stockholm, Sweden Mar 26, 2006 Bottled. Black, nearly opaque, no head. Tarry nose with a dash of blood. Dryish woith solid body. So roasty it turns resiny with metallic edges. Some plums and salt. Like listening to your favourite somg played through a distorted amplifier. rickgordon (3285), Göteborg, Sweden Mar 19, 2006 Bottled. Sampled at Delirium Café, Göteborg.
Almost black colour. Smokey nose, bit of flesh, rubber, salt and rubber. Smooth mouthfeel with notes of smoke and little chocolate. Light milky acidic. Solid bitterness. Very much like Limfjords Porter, but without the sea salt amongst the ingredients. DJMonarch (6036), Northwich, Cheshire, England Jan 31, 2006 Updated: Jun 25, 20091.
