Mar 26, 2006 Bottled. Black, nearly opaque, no head. Tarry nose with a dash of blood. Dryish woith solid body. So roasty it turns resiny with metallic edges. Some plums and salt. Like listening to your favourite somg played through a distorted amplifier.

Unclear medium red brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, beige head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, roasted, caramel, coffee, licorice, peat notes. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium to ’medium to full’, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. (170608)

Aug 22, 2008 Cask@GBBF2008. Deep amber colour, small creamy brown head. Aroma is coffee, smoked wood, some roasted malts, vanilla and mild alcohol. Flavour is roasted malts, dark fruits, smoked wood and peat. All in an excellent balance.

Dark colour strong in alocohol and fully roasted. Rich slightly bitter finish.

Fruit roast and coffee aromas. Black strong in alcohol and fruity with a crisp and bitter lasting coffee roast finish.

Dark brown. Tar and chewy malt on nose, liquorice, burnt malt in mouth. Very tarry with a thick finish.
Re-rate.
Cask handpull at Ship & Mitre, Liverpool. Wonderful beer. Black beer, thin dark beige head. Deep flavours, incredible aroma of dark malts, charcoal and some dark fruit. Full and velvety in mouth if a tad sour with long finish. Excellent beer

Jul 3, 2008 Courtesy of Cgarvieuk. Handbottled. It’s a hazy black-brown porter with a red hue and in spite of the handbottling also a small, creamy head. The aroma has notes of licorice and a little coffee. The mouthfeel is rather oily. The flavour has notes of licorice, bitter coffee, light peat-smoke, a light sweetness and the finish has hints of salty licorice. It’s a very nice porter.

Gravicask. A superb porter. Sweet toffee, coffee, treacle and roasty notes. Obvious hops and fruit. Good balance. Lovely mouth feel. Bittering finish. It’s got the lot. Lovely.
