Jul 9, 2006 Cask conditioned at Merton Summer Beer Fest 06. Black beer with restrained beige head. This is a big, heavy, dark and rich Porter, certainly complex with a juicy fruitiness, I suggested Damsons, that flows into a tartness and a big finishing bitterness. This was my wifes, Sandras, favourite beer of the festival and I can see why. It was interesting throughout and very complex, a particularly interesting beer, however it was my 2nd favourite at the Festival.

Dec 8, 2004 Updated: Sep 28, 2009Cask conditioned - Out Of The Vaults Leicester. A black beer with a lovely near white soapy head. There is smokiness and licquorice in the aroma, and an exceptional roasted taste. There is bitter dark chocolate in the taste also and again some smokiness. A massive tasting very well brewed beer which is a bit challenging and hence not at all moreish or quenching, just very tasty.Score 4.1

Oct 19, 2004 Cask (Huddersfield BF 2004): Clouded reddish brown appearance. Strong charred fruitcake aroma. Creamy, charred treacle flavor, sweet and fruity, mildly dry bitterness in the finish.

Apr 20, 2005 [Cask at Volunteers Arms, GBBF 2004] A red-brown beer with no head. The aroma is very sweet with notes of caramel, roasted coffee, and chocolate. The flavor is of roasted malt, coffee, and alcohol.

Mar 19, 2006 Bottled. Sampled at Delirium Café, Göteborg.
Almost black colour. Smokey nose, bit of flesh, rubber, salt and rubber. Smooth mouthfeel with notes of smoke and little chocolate. Light milky acidic. Solid bitterness. Very much like Limfjords Porter, but without the sea salt amongst the ingredients.

Dec 27, 2007 Stillage @ CAMRA York Beer Fest, november 07. Flat, dark color with almost no carbonatation. Deep, lovely, raisiny aroma. Couchy. Taste is a mix between raisins, almonds, some treacle and a bit of burnt sugar and liquorice. Full palate, coating, velvet but with a dry finnish. Heavy, warming, complex strong porter.

Dark colour strong in alocohol and fully roasted. Rich slightly bitter finish.

Fruit roast and coffee aromas. Black strong in alcohol and fruity with a crisp and bitter lasting coffee roast finish.

Mar 2, 2008 Updated: Aug 9, 2008Gravity cask at the Battersea Beer Festival, 8th Feb 2008. Opaque black and extremely still, this has a strong smell of alcohol, camphor and roasted barley. The flavour is a heady mix of coffee, tar and liquorice. It’s got an almost medicinal quality to it. The full, creamy mouthfeel accentuates the fierce flavours. Worth sampling.
Re-rated, cask at GBBF 08, up from a 3.6. Very flavoursome, this is an engrossing beer.
