Dave Sanders' creation of a traditional India Pale Ale. Brewed with Pale Malt and a generous quantity of Goldings Hops, IPA is a strong ale, pale amber in colour with an initial malty sweetness followed by a powerful hoppy kick.

(Cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 28 Nov 2009) Dark amber colour with brief, beige head. Fruity, malty nose with orange, dried fruit and lots of fresh hops. Fruity, malty taste with notes of apricots, dried fruit and sweet malt giving way for orange peel and fresh, citrussy hops in the finish. More than medium body, fairly sweet, with a generous bitterness. Nice beer.

Cask at The Hop Pole pubs Easter Beer Festival, Aylesbury in the company of Loz, Chris O, Ruth, Barry, Lynn 21-03-08 Light amber pour with a slight haze, thin white head. Good solid body to this beer, at first I thought where are the hops but they were there and came flooding through on a layer of sweetness. Aroma is light and hoppy. Myabe this is a bit honey sweet at times but the alcohol was pretty well masked and overall I rather enjoyed this though think a few more hops wouldn’t go amiss.

Cask in Blackfriars. Aroma is quite sweet pale malts, hints almost at candy sugar, grassy and floural hop and a bit of pepperyness which i recons from the alcohol rather than hops, but could be both. Taste is up front malty sweetness, some yeasty fruity esters, honey, once swallowed the bittering hops show up with notes of alcohol, and again pepperyness helps balance a good bit.

Cask, gravity, at Bedford Beer Festival ’07. Amber. Sweet malt aroma. Intensely sweet, oily caramel malt taste. Some late bitterness, but the main impression is of drinking honey.

Cask (handpump) @ <a href=http://ratebeer.com/Place/england/birmingham/ target=_new> Wellington, B2, Birmingham. Clear light amber color with a small, creamy / frothy, fair lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is light malty, moderate hoppy, grapefriut some notes of toffee and butter. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a average to long duration. (Hops sweet and bitter). Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. Very nice ;o))

Cask@Ealing BF. Scarily bad. Lots of noticeable alcohol, burning alcohol, not subtle in this respect at all. Some sappy, citric hop sweetness, but comes across as sticky and raw. Harsh alcohol bitterness. Unsubtle, crude.

Cask gravity at Ealing BF 2007. Gold/orange with a few off white bubbles on top. Diacetyl/butter and strong flowery hop aroma. Ever so syrupy in mouth. Buttery toffee and lots of grapefruit. Not entirely sure it works. Grapefruit bite on finish is good. Some strawberry. Strong and syrupy, but with plenty of bitter hop on finish. It’s alright, but that may be the alcohol speaking.

Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. Some lemon aroma, pale looking. Strongly alcohol fumed flavoured, but without any juicy hops, fruit or a balanced, gradiated taste. Verging on unpleasant.
