Cask gravity dispense at Red Lion, Isleworth. Virtually black in colour with beige head. Really chewy, tarry. Lots of tarry malt, coffee, dark choc. The finish really makes you have to take a breath. Bit of wood in there? Even a bit smokey. It coats the gums like a good red wine

Cask (gravity dispense) at Reading Beer Festival, April 2006. Pitch black with a thin beige head. Nice deep roast malt and creamy coffee aroma. The flavours are a little less intense than the aroma, with bitter chocolate coming through quite strongly. Relatively light mouthfeel with a subtle tart bitterness on the finish. Another good dark beer from E&S.

imdownthepub (8470) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 19, 2006
Cask Conditioned at The Miners Arms, Whitecroft, Gloucs. Deepest Black with steady tan head. Big, in your face stout, thick, black, tarry with dry sticky coffee flavours, like bottled Camp Coffee. Unrelenting through the pint, it was more than enough for some people on the trip. Sharp tartish finish. Interesting.
