COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Unfiltered.
The only self-proclaimed ‘Belgian stout’ – 9% by volume – named after famed Belgian detective Hercule Poirrot and considered a World Classic.
Made in small batches, then lagered for ten days in German oak casks.
"The Hercule is considered by many to be a classic – very malty, but dry, with a hint of sweetness in the finish, and perfectly hopped. It has a very distinctive and intoxicating spicy aroma of fresh spruce that suddenly, irresistibly, fills the room when the swing-top is released. This unique house character probably derives from the strains of yeast used by the brewery – and possibly from the fermentation in oak – because the beers are made entirely of malt and hops, without any spices or sugar."

Bottle at Delirium Hoppy Loft, Brussels. Pours brown with a medium, tan head. Dark, yeasty bread toast aroma with hints of roast coming in. Medium sweet flavor, dusty cocoa, dark sugar, some floral, herbal bitter notes. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, all dark malts, lightly herbal and spicy hops and toasted sugars. Drinks exceptionally well for the ABV. A very nice beer overall.

Not my type of imperial stout. The sweetness, maybe the spices (the spruce?) don’t suit me. It’s looks fine, black with a nice beige head. The aroma and taste are too sweet, caramel-like. Reminds me of the Oester Stotu that I recently had. This is better, but still not very good.

Lovely aroma, roasted & chocolate. Dark brown, almost black with beige disappointing head. Head wasn’t what I expected to be and disappeared quite fast. I liked the body and the touch of bitter and sweet in this one.

Bottle at the beer bistro. Black pour, beige head. Big roasty aroma, soy, licroice, piney hops. solid mouthfeel, and carbonation. Finish was quite bitter, but very satisfying. Big notes of burnt malt, espresso, and roasted/burnt malts. great stout.

33cl bottle with mechanic cap. Dark brown colour with a good formation of tan head, creamy and an average persistence. Aroma is toasty, moderate malty and coffee traces. Flavour is strong toasty, malty, roasty, dark coffee and black chocolate notes. Dense on palate the final results moderate bittery. Carbonation is medium. Body is medium to high. Texture is oily.

Pours black as night with a small tan head. Nose is fresh coffee and hops, with a hint of some oxidation although not enough to throw it off. Flavor is sweet, followed by a well balanced bitter through the finish. This is a first for me to have a stout that is somewhat light bodied but still has a big boy flavor. The mouthfeel is creamy and long lasting. Delicious.

A sweeter Imperial Stout, almost more like a strong Foreign stout. The oak is more subtle. Serving: Bottle

Sweet smell. Deep red color, slight foam head, Complex, light flavored stout, bubbly, dry after taste. Too light of a flavor for my tastes but good overall.
