3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
330mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma is unmistakably Belgian, with dry cocoa, Belgian yeast, and light candied sugar. Flavour is very dry and yeasty, with unsweetened dry cocoa, Belgian yeast, and roasted malt. Again, unmistakably Belgian in construction. Full-bodied, yeasty and cocoa-y. Good stuff.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours black with a frothy tan head that dissipates quickly. Nose is yeast, biscuit, citrus and a hint of coffee/roasted malt. Pretty interesting/different bouquet for a stout. Initial flavor is a lightly sweet, giving way quickly to a tart citrusy character, and finishing relatively dry with roasted malt and citrusy hops that linger on the tip of the tongue, and warm alcolhol in the chest/stomach. Soft carbonation with a light to medium mouthfeel, and a relatively think texture. Overall, an interesting take on stout that features some different flavor components than the norm. Tasty enough, but not by favorite.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
33 cl swingtop bottle. Hueless darkest brown, tan foam settles and mostly fades. Aroma of dark roast, dark chocolate and yeast. Toasty smooth sweet milky chocolate malty taste, a hint of dark fruitiness, mild herbal spicy yeast influence. Softer carbonation, medium bodied, moderately hopped. ABV well hidden, light for an Impy. Barely bitter, some black licorice towards the end. Yummy. NFL (Not For Lagerboys)

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20

Pours pitch black with large head. Wonderful aroma full of raisins and roasted nuts, coffee and chocolate. Taste is very fruity, some roastyness, and a well balanced mix of chocolaty sweetness and hop bitterness. A most excellent stout.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark fruit, wood, and a little bourbon-like booze in the aroma. Flavor is surprisingly mild and sweet but still complex, with coffee, chocolate, and cherry, and some wood. A little spice, alcohol, and roast coffee bitterness in the finish. Really good.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
33cl bottle, forgot where from exactly, bb 10/2015. Shared with Guinness chocolate mousse dessert, perfect pairing. Pours a beautiful 80% chocolate brown with beige crema. Aromas suffused with coffee, berries, delicate leather and cocoa. Taste of younger port and Wiener Melange, on a thinnish palate for the abv. Fresh roast and wood tannins help to keep it dry and refreshing, never sweet despite the obvious yeastiness - deliciously untypical. A bold yet balanced, beautiful BE stout, a big surprise and indeed a potential BE benchmark aka classic. Will revisit.
