COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle; Unfiltered.
The only self-proclaimed ‘Belgian stout’ – 9% by volume – named after famed Belgian detective Hercule Poirrot and considered a World Classic.
Made in small batches, then lagered for ten days in German oak casks.
"The Hercule is considered by many to be a classic – very malty, but dry, with a hint of sweetness in the finish, and perfectly hopped. It has a very distinctive and intoxicating spicy aroma of fresh spruce that suddenly, irresistibly, fills the room when the swing-top is released. This unique house character probably derives from the strains of yeast used by the brewery – and possibly from the fermentation in oak – because the beers are made entirely of malt and hops, without any spices or sugar."

Zeer moutig en nootachtig boeket, geur van gedroogd fruit, gebrande koffie, chocolade, kruidig gist, alcohol, zoethout. Ruikt fantastisch. Moutige licht bittere afdronk.

almost black colour, notable dense brownish head; aroma of dried berries, coffee, some floral hop and earthy notes - a bit strange for a stout; taste of coffee, dried fruits, lots of roastedness and maybe some smoke; dry mouthfeel; good try from a belgian brewery in a new field (ie stouts)

Belgian brewers are starting to try styles that are totally new to them, but have been popular in other countries. This imperial stout is a good example of what can be achieved that way. Totally in style and very available, even in the smaller towns of Flanders and Wallonia.

Bottle, from Dranken Geers, at the 500 miles tasting in the Sham, 23/03/13. Extremely dark mahogony brown with a thin tan head that clears to the edge and leaves a film atop the glass. Nose is roast malt, liqourice, dark fruits, sugars. Taste comprises roast malt, mineral notes, light coffee, fag ash, yeast, touch of wood, molasses. Fullish body with soft carbonation, dry in the finish. Average stout, a low score for me on an imperial - too sweet simple!

Pours black with large thick creamy tanned head. Coffee and chocolate on the nose and the mostly the same in the flavour. Unfortunately this beer was a big disappointment for me, nothing spectacular with this beer, just a ok stout that lacked in some flavour.
