Defreni (475), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 18, 2007 Flaske. Ikke så sort som en normal imperial stout, men en rigtig lækker diskret smag af bær og lakrids. Alt i alt en langt bedre øl end jeg husker den.
maugus4ever (37), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA Aug 17, 2008 Pours black with a very large tan head. Very fruity aroma and fairly fruity taste. I am not a big fan of Belgian stouts, but this was not bad. However, I would not get this one again. fredandboboflo (442), East Setauket, New York, USA Aug 17, 2008 Bottle. Complex Aroma of winelike fruits. Flavor of sweet fruits, earthy fruit, some growing roast, bittersweet fruit finish. Light bodied for the style, whether you call it imperial stout, foreign stout, whatever. Dry throughout. Very interesting and a bit odd, I’d categorize it as a Belgian Strong and maybe even an oddball barleywine before really putting the stout label on it. Unique and interesting again, but not really in a way that has me clamoring for more. jaghana (12), Strasbourg, France Aug 17, 2008 The head has a very nice chocolate taste as the beer itself is more bitter. The whole aroma is less complex I expected, the rosted malt flavour is mostly present. A nice experience anyway. LilBeerDoctor (443), East Setauket, New York, USA Aug 15, 2008 Bottle. Pours black with a thick light tan head. Aroma of sweet fig, vanilla, chocolate. Flavor is super sweet! Some burnt caramel, roast, general sweetness. Kind of weird tasting though. It’s not an imperial stout and it didn’t really taste like other Belgian stouts I’ve had. Just an odd beer that I wasn’t impressed by. sebletitje (242), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 14, 2008 33cl bottle.
Pours dark brown almost black, with creamy beige head.
Aroma is roasted, taste is roasted malts, coffee; candi sugar / licorice.
Very hard to put words to the qulity of this beer, it is unique and really part of these "belgian stouts" that are making a name for themselves.
I found it to be very impressive, and a lot better than some of these very limited belgian stouts that so many are raving about and pay huge sums to drink, wink at black albert.
