tsarman (794), Northern, New Jersey, USA Aug 20, 2003 Updated: Aug 24, 2003 First beer I drank on my 21st birthday, it was a great way to start out a great night. Dark as the night, it came in the coolest bottle, with a little rubber stopper like thing on top.
Pitch black and delicious, not unlike a normal stout, the alcohol was near invisible for an imperial stout. Compared to Old Raspy or Brooklyn Black Chocolate, I remember this one feeling closer to a Guinness in taste.
Nothing too remarkable about this beer that makes it stand out from other stouts, but it was still rather delicious.
lemasney (300), Trenton, New Jersey, USA Oct 9, 2008 Style and Glass: Imperial Stout; Snifter
ABV, Volume & Calories:9 % in 11.2 fl oz. estimated at 200 C
Purchased at: Super Saver Pennington, NJ for $3.00
Aroma: amazing, chocolate, syrup, heather. 10 out of 10.
Visuals: beautiful design, deep brown, mostly opaque, thin white head, little lace. 3 out of 5.
Taste: unbalanced, mostly malt, little hops, low strength, medium craft. 6 out of 10.
Palate: lower quality, smooth texture, quick finish. 3 out of 5.
Overall: A real disappointment, more of a brown ale than an imperial stout, not a repeat, not a favorite, little value, medium craft. 15 out of 20. Tmoney99 (3636), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Oct 8, 2008 Bottle shared by alexadad06 at Bengals game. Poured a brown color with a large frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted malty and chocolate aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture. Solid balanced roasted bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good complex brew. cbkschubert (1611), Rattlesnake Country, Arizona, USA Sep 29, 2008 <33 cl bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a brown color with a large light tan head. Nice lacing. Aroma and flavor is toasted malt, light chocolate, and esters. Medium body. Smooth palate. A nice beer. cbeers21 (408), Miami, Florida, USA Sep 28, 2008 Brown black with nice lasting sparkling head. Coffee and espresso notes are evident both on taste and aroma. Deep woodsy pine touches are there as well. While this brew dabbles in compexity and layere texture it remains pretty straightforward, and that is a good thing. A resonant bittering echo is all that remaines form this delightfully lightly boozy smokey beer. Decievingly drinkable. Borgen (16), Denmark Sep 24, 2008 NIce black/darkbrown apperance with a frothy withe head. Strong taste which last for a long time in the mouth. Tasted it for the first time in a little coucine in Bruxelles to a fantastic lovaal belgian dish. Then found it in a beer shop in denmark - I had to buy it.
