The initial aroma is fruity but quickly gives way to a strong maltiness. The beer is a cloudy bronze and the head is off white and very short lasting. The initial flavor is of malty sweetness and finishes with a slight fruitiness. Throughtout the beer maintains an astringint quality.

6 Jun 2005 - (B&B Enich Anders) - Sweet malt & spiritous aroma. cloudy amber-light brown colour with some suspended particles that are a bit off putting, reasonable head retention but ordinary lacing. Spiritous malt, some fruit & hop flavours. Bitter tangy finish, thickish mouthfeel and some lingering flavours.

Deep bronze colour, hazy. An aroma of rye bread and caramel from the Munich malts. Good flavour balance, spicy. Medium body, maybe slightly watery. Definitely a beer that I will have on my shopping list next time I visit Belgium- this being a highly underrated beer and thus a nice surprise.

330ml. swing top bottle. Medium amber color, slightly hazy. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is fruity, sweet and yeasty. A medium bodied Belgian Ale. Malts are fruity and sweet. Orange, banana and clove. Rather sweet, caramel malts, brown sugar and molasses. Lively carbonation. OK, but kind of boring… Touch of alcohol bite at the finish, other than that it’s well hidden. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

08.17.05 11.2oz swingtop, best before end 1/2003; LOT 269. Copper-orange-amber pour, fluffy biege foam, soft and sheeting lace. Tons of gritty looking sediment, dark stuff that settles quickly to the bottom of the glass. Aroma is vinous, grapey, bubblegum sweetness with loads of caramel and brown sugar, raisin bread, and hints of butterscotch. Delicious to smell. Flavor is similarly boozy with lots of rum raisin and vanilla plus coffe undertones. Doughy yeast abounds. This stuff is full of life and has aged great. Molasses, coffee, and light yeast spice all emerge with temp adding layers of love. A very pleasant surprise.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very classic amber appearance with lots of sediment. Aroma is powerfully alcohol and malty with strong gingerbeer and licorice elements. Interestingly, flavor is pretty much the same, with perhaps a bit more peachy & raisiny fruit and a strong yeasty farmhouse undertone. Most beers with such a strong alcohol presence would be averse, but with this style it actually seems appropriate, very pleasant to drink, much along the lines of a winter warmer -- further graced by a distinctive old-time farmhouse flair.

(Bottle 33 cl) Amber coloured with a reddish glow. Almost no head but lots of impurities. Surprisingly light body considering the alcohol. Fruity, yeasty notes and pronounced caramel from the malt. Very solid hop-bite in the finish. 230998
