Ungstrup (29170) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - FEB 7, 2005
A hazy amber beer with a nice off-white head. The aroma is sweet with yeasty notes as well as caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, yeast, and hints of citrus as well as a good dry end.

Plum and ripe red fruit with caramel, toffee, and light hops. Bit of Twizzlers. Dark reddish brown clear with light haze and dark black grit in the glass. Tan foamy lacing head. Medium heavy watery body with medium carbonation, alcohol. Starts pretty sweet, with nice caramel malt, plum and fig, alcohol, and light Twizzlers. Finish is drier with mild bitter fruity hops. After is chalky, lightly bitter, but with nutty caramel malt and fruitiness perservering, vapory.

Bottled (BB 08/2005)
Hazy orange-amber color with vanishing white head. Medium-bodied. Light fruity hoppy aroma. Well-balanced hoppy bitter, fruity and flowery flavor. Nice hoppy bitter aftertaste. Like an English bitter with high ABV.

i was all prepared for a let down on this beer having read and believed the ratings here beforehand, but you know what, i really liked it. so there. the aroma has a lovely balance between fresh bread and bubblegum phenolics with some strawberries. taste is full of aromatic malt, quite nutty, with a simple peppery, slightly tart finish. not too sweet, not too dry, clean, satisfying but not too chunky on the palate, this does all the right things for me. a simple but very likeable beer. thanks jbrus!

Bottle: Poured a cloudy amber color ale with a super huge bubbly off-white head with average retention. Aroma is a mix of strong yeast and spices. Taste is also quite a wonderful mix of strong spices, yeast, and malt with a subtle sweet finish. Alcohol is very well hidden and body is full. Overall, this is an above average Belgian strong ale.

UPDATED: OCT 5, 2004 Bottled. Purchased from Beer Mania. Clouded amber body with a TALL foamy off-white head. Nose is filled with strong spice and some flowery aromas. Lightly perfumy with minor fruit and sugary notes. Taste is also laden with spices and is sort of peppery. Though this I can pick up the taste of bananas, wheat, yeast flowers and light sugary notes. Maybe some other indescribable fruits. Can’t really make them out. Lively, tingly feeling on the tongue. Finishes with a strong fruit and spice blend.

Maybe I should have read the label first. Best befor end 2003. For 8.5% that should be ok but... No head. Muddy yeast sludge in the bottom of the bottle. No head. Dirty brown river water looking beer. Yeast alcohol and vinegar in the nose. Flat but with a sweet alcohol flavour that makes me want to try a fresher bottle. Re-rate ahead.

Hazy amber with thick white head. The taste starts slight sweet and very fruity. Finishes with a funny slight sour and alcohol sharpness. Rather strange taste pattern.

diabel (1606) - Aarschot, BELGIUM - AUG 7, 2004
Frothy off-white head, which lasts mostly. There’s virtually no lace. The body is hazy amber and had tiny particles. The aroma is hoppy (pine) and has some alcohol and smoke in it. The initial flavour is moderately bitter and acitic. The (long) finish is all the same. Medium to fully bodied. Soft carbanation. Metallic and lightly alcoholic feel.
