3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 BlackHaddock (2350) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 7, 2012
Poured into a lovely chalice glass: New Years Day, in a bar on the Grand Place in Mons, Belgium.
The body was an orangey, golden yellow, a slight haze spoiled the moment; a thinning white head was evident as the glass was placed in front of me, by the time I’d lifted the glass to my lips it had receded to a collar and a wisp.
Mixed bag of mini smells; yeast, citrusy hops, sweet flower aromas and biscuit malts, all faint but detectable.
The taste is sharp, tangy and almost lager/pilsner like, however a malty flavour appears mid sip, before the dry, initial sharpness re-asserts it’s self. Half decent and certainly one of the crispier Belgian on-tap beers I’ve had in this style. The complexity of the flavours hid the alcohol content and it was impossible to guess it’s ABV, very surprised when I discovered it was 8%.
Really enjoyed it, would have been better outside on a sunny, warm day rather than the damp cold evening I sat inside with my coat on. Hope to come across it again in the summer one day.

This blonde pours florenscent brown and has residue at the base and smells sweet and wheaty. It is bitter on the tongue with an abrupt finish.

Hazy pale yellow, white stable head. Nose is spicy, yeasty with hop notes. Taste is spicy hops with malt in the background, some weak sweetness. Acerbic bitter finish. Medium body, lively carbonation. Could hardly notice the 8% ABV. Nice beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 mattphilips (802) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JAN 3, 2012
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Bosskie (256) - NETHERLANDS - DEC 2, 2011
Opaque golden beer with a frothy bubbly head. Subtle citric peachy smell. Dry. The taste is hop bitterness. Dry with an acidic finish. Bit boring, easy to dirnk but nothing special.
