Black hops is a dark pale ale designed to get the job done! All American hop bitterness, roasted malt flavor and a piercing citrusy hop aroma carrying just enough body to accomplish the mission. Black hops is a lean mean hophead pleasin machine!

Samped on draft at the brewery this beer poured a black color with orange highlights and a medium sized creamy beige head that left good lacing. The aroma was malty, a bit roasty and had a moderate floral hops presence. The flavor was bitter, roasty and malty with moderate floral hops. Long hoppy finish. Medium body. Meh.

This aroma, great color, very very toasty, which detracts from the malt and hop quality.

Had on draft @ the Ellicottville brewpub in Ellicottville, NY .. . mild roast nose .. mild foam .. spotty lacing .. laid back mouthfeel .. a tame but very enjoyable brew . ya .. mild finish, light linger .. . . No, they only paid me to say it once, then they doubled it up on the soundtrack. … Cheap bastards.

Growler from Village Beer Merchant. Black bodied, with little head. Very little roast. It grows on me, all the elements, but rather understated black IPA. OK drinkability.

On tap at Old Toad. Pours a very dark with a small tan head. Aroma is piney with some roasted coffee and a little bit of citrus hops. Taste is excellent. Nice roasted malt goodness with good citrus and piney hops to balance. Nice and easy to drink.

[3921-20110820] Tap. Light evergreen hops aroma. Slightly hazy, dark cola body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head and some lattice lacing. Evergreen resin hops flavour had a nice bitter base. Medium body. Tasty and bitter. (7/3/7/4/16) 3.7-

On draught at the brewery. Pours a dark dark dark ass black colour with a a small tannish head a little bit of lacing here and there. Aroma is so damn strong. Smells like dope really, pretty awesome. A little pine in there too. Taste is hop bitter but not overpowering . Quite delicious.

2011-08-10. Very dark brown-black body, small tan head. 3+ Leafy green hop aroma, mild dusty roasty malt in the background. Flavour is similar, green leafy hops and very mild roasty accents. Pleasant light bitterness. Average bodied palate. Enjoyable. On tap at Coles, Buffalo
