COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our newest addition to our family of craft beers. A light golden ale, crisp on the palate with a refreshing blueberry aroma and flavor. Surprisingly different that most people expect. A sure winner!

Bottle. Yup - blueberries. Thin, bright, yellow, fizzy, a bit watery. Strange peppery flavor is present and misplace. All in all its not bad but certainly not a repeat purchase.

UPDATED: NOV 2, 2007 On draught at Gallo’s Tap Room in Columbus. The beer is a clear bright yellow color with a thin white head that dissapears quickly. Spotty lacing. The aroma is wheat and blueberries. Light body with mild sweet blueberry, wheat and grain flavors. Flavor starts off alright but there is a definite off flavor of soap and metal here and there. The finish is sweet blueberry with a touch of hops. Slightly below average overall.

Pours a vibrant looking yellow with some bubble action. Strong strong blueberry smell. Almost overwhelming. Taste is herb-ilicious, with a strong backbone of blueberry. I can’t even taste the wheat. The aftertaste is almost reminiscent of a certain type of cannabis... very unexpected. Heavily carbonated though. On par with Sea Dog, but definitely a nice fruit beer.

12 ounce bottle from Beers of the World in Rochester, NY (June 2007), served from a Unibroue glass at just slightly above fridge temperature. A largish frothy white head forms, dying fairly quickly into a small lasting cap, leaving no lace above the faintly hazy, bubbly gold body....blueberries-in-syrup aroma is quite pleasant as is, but there is little wheaty sourness or indeed any malt noted.....body is tart, fruit is fairly strong throughout, some nice biscuity malts appear midway through the tasting, and even some grassy hops are noted towards the finish...some unpleasant metallic notes mar the whole thing, but the reasonably full yet light, effervescent body helps emeliorate this problem....refreshing and fairly decent fruit beer, overall.

[336-20070611] 355mL (c/o HogTownHarry, w/ jerc). Blueberry cheesecake aroma has a fruity florally perfume quality, like calamine lotion. Clear, yellow orange body with a quick white bubbly head. Wheaty blueberries continues in flavour. Light-medium body seems watery. Interesting aroma becomes fairly bland taste, like drinking flower water.

Bottle. Pours a nice clear gold with a thin white head and some lace. Aroma is of wild small blueberries but it is subdued- unlike a blue point or a sea dog blueberry- also hints of wierd perfume and potpourri. Flavor is herbal with just a small hint of blueberry, flowery, grassy, candle wick, dust and cardboardy, yet I can somehow tell its not cuz it is old- kinda seems fresh but it just kinda sucks. Grassy herbal finish bordering on astringent. Blech.

bottle: terrible. not even because this is a beer style I don’t like. This just is not a good blueberry beer. It has a strange taste, hard to pinpoint, but very grassy and sour/tart. Not like a blueberry...Sorry EBC. I want to be supportive, but this is not good.

Bottle courtesy of HogTownHarry. Light golden colour with a very faint haze and a small white head. Aroma of fresh blueberry pie. Medium body. Decent flavour of blueberries balanced with some mild biscuity malt and faint floral hops in the finish. I liked it, but I like blueberries a lot.

Bottle courtesy of HogTownHarry. Golden body, tiny white head. Prominent blueberries in aroma have notes of musty blueberry cheesecake and light floral notes, perhaps from the hops. In the flavour the blueberry is on the lighter side, with just enough light bitterness to keep it from being cloying. Average, smooth palate. Bit dull, but not unpleasant. 6/3/6/3/10-11

6/12/2007: The cap on this bottle of EBC Blueberry Wheat looks extactly like those used by Southern Tier Brewing Company. That leads me to believe that this beer was actually made by Southern Tier for Ellicottvile Brewing Company. That, paired with the appearance and taste of this beer, pretty much confirms it for me. The EBC Bluebeery Wheat is obviously made with the same base beer as that which is used for the <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Beer/southern-tier-ra Tier Raspberry Wheat Beer but has blueberry extract flavoring in it rather than raspberry. Both beers are a transparent, pale straw color and have a thin, frothy, white/off-white crown. The EBC Blueberry Wheat Beer actually smells and tastes less artificial than the Southern Tier Raspberry Wheat Beer. The blueberry is more floral and "real" rather than being powdery, sugary, and fake like the raspberry. Also, the floral qualities of the blueberry aroma and flavor seem to complement the grassy, floral, and noble hop bite of the Pilsener-/Dortmunder-like base beer that appears in the finish better. This beer is also not quite as sweet and has a little bit of tartness that works with the mild bitterness to really balance this beer well. This beer has a medium-light body body and is easy to drink. While not quite as good as other available fruit beers, EBC Blueberry Wheat Beer is definitely much better than the Southern Tier Raspberry Wheat Beer, although there is still some room for improvement. Crisp, clean, and refreshing nonetheless!

12 oz bottle (4123106071316) from Jungle’ Jim’s.
