APPEARANCE- very black, lighter head than i expected. Head has good retention and moderate lacing. NOSE- slightly sweet, definite cherry, but I’m not convinced how natural the cherry scents are. FLAVOR- roasty right up front, a little bitterness which i think come from the cherries, more so than the chocolate. Little bit of sweetness that lingers at the very end.

UPDATED: JUL 16, 2015 Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured thick and black with a small creamy brown head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweet, malty and toasty with notes of cocoa and cherry. The flavor was chocolate, malty and toasty with faint cherry and malted milk. Long cocoa finish. Moderately full bodied and creamy. Alcohol well contained. Well done.

This was poured into a mini snifter. The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a thin off white film of sporadic tan head. Lacing is mainly non-existent. The smell starts off with a dark chocolate and light cherry, semi-sweet. As it warms, a light milk chocolate enters. Light roasted coffee beans and vanilla notes blend together. All throughout, the cherry is super subtle. The taste is sweet and bitter at different times adding a subtle roasty coffee smoothness. A sticky sweet chocolate aftertaste leads into a sticky sweet chocolate finish. On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sipping quality about it. Carbonated nicely as a D/I Stout, smooth roasty notes stroll over my tongue. Overall, as a double/Imperial Stout it works however don’t expect a lot of cherry.

(bottle - 12 oz) Dark black pour with a puffy tan head. Big chocolate and roasted coffee aroma. Didn’t get much cherry in the nose, but definitely moreso in the flavor. Chocolate gives way to coffee which gives way to a lightly tart cherry middle. Sweet and slightly fruity finish.

Previously draft only, but now released in 12 ounce four packs. Pours a dark brown, looks similar to Coca-Cola, a bit thin, and a small foamy tan head. Aroma was chocolate and fresh roast coffee. Taste followed the nose, with the cherry coming in at the end, but very very mildly. I was pretty surprised by this and thought the taste was superb and enjoyable. Will be looking for more.

A dark stout with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet chocolate malt with vanilla, cherries, nice. In mouth, a sweet fruity malt with light cherry, malt balls, ok.

Growler from Premier Gourmet. Pours a very dark brown with modest, lasting light brown head. Aroma is rich milk and dark chocolate and dark cherry. Flavour is slightly roasty cocoa, milk chocolate, light coffeish notes and fresh cherries do come through. Silky mouthfeel. ABV really not apparent. Nice.

Mild chocolate aroma, pours black with a light tan head. Taste of a dark, rich chocolate with a perfect touch of cherry. Very smooth. By no means complex or mind-boggling, it just does what it does really, really well.
