3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 crazyvin (1574) - USA - MAY 5, 2010
12 ounce bottle. A brown body with a off-white head that had decent retention. Aroma was a mix of nuts and caramel malts. Flavor was smooth and had a decent balance between nutty malt notes and caramel malt notes. It seemed kind of thin though.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Lithp (37) - Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 18, 2012
UPDATED: FEB 22, 2012 Pours a dark brown color with a small tan head. Smells like roasted nuts with a little bit of chocolate.
Taste is mild, slight nutty flavor.
Not too shabby. EBC has better brews though, and there are better brown ales as well, but this is worth a try.
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 bhensonb (7591) - Woodland, California, USA - OCT 26, 2011
Bottle from Half Time. Pours dark amber with a decent foamy beige head. Roast caramel and "nutty" aromas. Med body. Flavor is that roast caramel with dirt typical of a brown ale. There’s some definite bitter behind the malt. So it’s pretty balanced and arguably more bitter than malty. Pretty clean for a brown.

On tap at Mr. Goodbar’s. Big brown sweetness with some spice. Not necessary but I just like to have a beer here. Reddish brown colour. Medium mouthfeel, carbonation right there. Not greatly drinkable.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 crhensel (87) - New Jersey, USA - AUG 30, 2011
Bottle into mug (sampled 6/20/10). Poured a clear medium brown with a one finger short lasting head. Aroma pulled in some nice nutty notes with a hint of the hops and a little sugar in there too -- very interesting. Very smooth in the mouth and while the malt sweetness was present it wasn’t as overpowering as I thought it would be and the hops added the right amount of bite at the finish to keep this refreshing. Overall a pretty good one!
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 douglas88 (3684) - Salt Lake City, Utah, USA - JUN 20, 2011
12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear light brown color with a medium white head. The aroma is a sweet nutty malt and fruity hop. The flavor is a nice very hoppy brown ale; sweet caramel and toasted malts, pine and bitter hops, almost like a Brown IPA (just kidding), dry and malty. Very nice. An easygoing brew.

Ellicottville Nut Brown is a very clear copper ale with a foamy, waxy, bubbly khaki head that has excellent retention and lacing. It has a toasty, nutty aroma with notes of grass and flowers. It’s pretty light bodied and a little sharp. The finish is chewy. It has a light but well balanced taste, not sweet or dry. It’s toasty and nutty, just like the aroma. The finish is a little bitter with herbs and grass. The aftertaste is nutty. This is very drinkable. This would be an acceptable session ale.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 JohnBarleycorn (537) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - APR 3, 2011
Bottle. Vivacious red/medium brown with good head retention. Aromas of chocolate malt, strawberry and chocolate icing. Flavours of chocolate, sugar and cola. A touch too sweet but overall fairly enjoyable.
2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 beerbill (2938) - Laurel, New York, USA - MAR 27, 2011
12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear reddish amber with a thin tan head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. There is no aroma at all to speak of save a few wisps of musty malt. The flavor is malt up front followed by some moderate dryness and mild bitterness. Thankfully, none of the mustiness in the aroma is present in the flavor. Medium bodied. Underwhelming.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 murphym45 (767) - New York, New York, USA - MAR 11, 2011
Bottle. Clear brown with some tan head that laces a bit. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, herbal. Taste is more malt with some bitter chocolate, caramel, a bit of smoke. Medium bodied with a light sweetness up front but finishes dry with some bitterness. Not bad, but also nothing special.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 deyholla (3533) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 30, 2011
On tap. Poured a slightly hazy brown with a caramel brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was full of bread notes with a bit of nuttiness and sweet grain backing. Flavor had a bit more nuttiness which joined the bread note that had a bit of sweetness to it.
