3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Copper-orange color, clear, but thin head. This seems pretty well within the style. More malt than hops, and the hops that are there are German. Dry finish. Clean. I almost sensed a little out-of-place spice here, but that may have just been the combo of various flavors. Slightly low fizz for a lager. Decent Okt, but not memorable.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
It had a nice, deep amber colored body with good clarity. The head was creamy white in color and thin. It faded fast leaving just a ring of bubbles on top of the body. The aroma had earthy and herbal hops with a hint of sweet malt and a touch of lemon oil. Its flavor had a good mix of sweet, caramel and bready malts with leafy/herbal hops and a hint of sweet lemon. Its mild hop bitterness fades off the tongue in the finish. The texture is smooth and mellow with soft carbonation. It is very drinkable and medium bodied.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from bottle to a pint glass
Appearance - a golden/slightly copper color. Upon pouring formed head which dissipated quickly
Smell -A bit of caramel sweetness but nothing too strong.
Taste - A little bit of caramel malt flavor.
Mouthfeel - Pretty much on par with what would be expected with ~ 5 % brew. Appropriate of the beer style
Overall - A fine beer, but nothing exceptional. About average for an octoberfest beer.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Clear, golden in color with a white head, this has a somewhat pleasant, lager aroma with light caramel. It’s a little too light and watery, sightly sweet with a little bitterness that ends awkward and thin. Weird finish. I don’t like this. It’s downright skunky.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours with bright clarity, perfect amber with light lager bubbles making their way to the top. Retention was poor, but poured a finger of off white foam. Left a thin ring and some patchy spots of lace. Nose was toasty, crusty bread and lager yeast. A very light malt sweetness on the nose. Taste is bold with bread and lager yeast twang. Has a gentle sweetness and finishes with a touch of bitter. It has a mineral quality to the taste and the mouthfeel is light and a bit thin. Had a citrus taste in the finish. My criticisms would be that the malt wasn’t silky enough and could have used a touch more sweet presence in the drink. The hops were a bit too bitter for my taste and the yeast was powerful and a bit sour.
This is my first beer from Ellicottville and they did a great beer to style.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. There’s just a slight haze on this orange-yellow beer. The head is super sticky, clinging to the sides of the glass for dear life as it subsides. The aroma is fresh and snappy, the aroma of fall. This drinks with a crisp tartness, with a nicely balanced light malt backdrop, and finishes with a subtle, funky bite. Very nice O-fest! 3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hops aren’t something you tend to find a lot of in Oktoberfestbiers, which makes an even remotely hoppy brew of the style stand out. That’s certainly the case with Ellicottville Oktoberfest - an otherwise by-the-book marzen with real hop character.
I poured a 12oz bottle into my OktoBEERfest mug.
Appearance: Attractive clear shade of dark amber/copper. Forms a small, beige, sudsy head which evaporates quickly and almost completely.
Smell: Typical American lager aroma but with a subtle floral scent.
Taste: I would not describe Ellicottville Oktoberfest as robust and complex, but I would say it has a rather unique palate for an American Oktoberfest. Mild sweetness throughout the entire first half of the palate - mostly amber grain but nothing particularly confectionary. Right as it starts to finish there’s a crackle of sharp hoppy bitterness. More dry than a spicy, with even the faintest trace of citrus. It’s really quite prominent consider the beer is only 28 IBUs (according to the brewery’s website). This drinks more like an amber ale as it has no generic lager taste at all. Though not absolutely delicious, there’s nothing boring about this palate at all. It’s a nice change of pace for sure.
Drinkability: This is exactly what you want out of an Oktoberfest: plenty of flavor but no massive girth. Ellicottville Oktoberfest has an energetic, but comfortable mouthfeel. It goes down smooth and is fairly clean, though the hops do create for a slightly dry aftertaste. The 5.6% ABV is perfect for the size.

Had on draft @ the Ellicottville brewpub in Ellicottville, NY .. . i enjoyed this one- a very nice example .. . light caramel, a touch sweet .. . a good finish .. . this is awesome! .. . . Excuse me, but "proactive" and "paradigm"? Aren’t these just buzzwords that dumb people use to sound important? Not that I’m accusing you of anything like that.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from pushkinwow. Pours a clear copper with a fizzy offwhite head. Sweet aroma with some light floral hops. Sweet taste with a bit of bready malt. Pretty good for the style but not a great beer.
