3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 jb (1602) - Rochester, USA - OCT 8, 2011
Dark gold. Nose is more hop dominated than typical, floral citrus. Clean palate, german hops, sweet, a bit of malt. Balance and okay, misses the mark of an Okt.

Bottle from pushkinwow. Pours a clear copper with a fizzy offwhite head. Sweet aroma with some light floral hops. Sweet taste with a bit of bready malt. Pretty good for the style but not a great beer.
2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 jgb9348 (3497) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - FEB 12, 2012
Crisp copper coloured body with a very thin off-white head that fades immediately and almost no movement at all - okay looking. Aroma of metal, a touch of malt and a few minor sugars - not much going on at all. Light-bodied; Metallic and slightly chewy malt note and a touch of citrus and some cleanser and just about nothing else. Aftertaste is pretty mild with some malt and a touch of alcohol. Overall, a pretty bland and uninspired beer with not much going on and not a great example of the style. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 18-November-2011 for US$2.55 sampled at home in Washington on 12-February-2012.

12 oz bottle from Cranbury BuyRite. Meh, this is lousy. Poured a flat orange/amber with hardly any head. Aroma of wet bread and slight nutts. Flavor of wet bread crusts, hint of citrus, and acorns. Watery mouthfeel with stronger carbonation. Skip this.
2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 pushkinwow (867) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 9, 2011
Bottle from Paul. Clear amber with a generous off white head that quickly fades to thin ring around the outside of the glass. Bit sweet and marzipan, bready, fresh and lightly roasted malt, some slight hops and stale caramel. Moderate carbonation, decent body, sweet but not overdone, becomes very dry and sweet at the end with fresh dough.

Bottle. Really not very good. Smells loosely of hay and assorted malts. Taste is pretty similar...very thin and not all that great. I wasn’t really expecting a ton, though. Meh.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 McGarnigle (455) - Rochester, New York, USA - OCT 9, 2011
Bottle. Copper-orange color, clear, but thin head. This seems pretty well within the style. More malt than hops, and the hops that are there are German. Dry finish. Clean. I almost sensed a little out-of-place spice here, but that may have just been the combo of various flavors. Slightly low fizz for a lager. Decent Okt, but not memorable.

Bottle. Pours clear orange with a small off-white head. Aromas of rice, sweet, and sugar. The flavor is sweet sugar and malt, buttery pie crust, and some slight spice. Average. [812]

2011 Brewfest Roch. Copper color with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet with some toasted malts and a light hop twinge. Flavor is very sweet and bready with a smooth and sweet malt flavor. Very well balanced. Nice Octoberfest.
