Pours a very red brown. Foamy latte-colored head. Smells like a fruit roll-up. No joke. Artificial fruit - cherry and raspberry - dominate the brew. It’s almost like someone poured a bit of a framboise (a sweet one - Lindemans) in an already-sweet barleywine. The flavor brings it back a bit, giving it some depth - a bit of wheat, some caramel, and a respectable - but not overpowering - hop backbone. I’m actually liking this one quite a bit - it goes down smooth and easy, especially for an 09.

Sweet fruity nose - cherries, dark dried fruits, earthy light floral notes. Beautiful bright red pour with a offwhite creamy foam head. More cherries, dark dried fruits, sweet residual sugars, and a nice earthy floral hop bite in the finish. Light lingering chewy bitterness balances sweetness very well. Creamy smooth mouthfeel with loose and nice carbonation.

Baking chocolate aroma, some wood. Muddy brown with a barely tan head. Gritty chocolate flavor and texture, small heat comes through in the finish but overall this is a joy to drink. Too bad i can’t get a growler, i would love to age this.

Browned amber, august-looking, with flimsy head. Deep malt with dried fruit. Incredibly complex flavors including a medley of dried fruits, apricot, peach, plum, raisin, wrapped in chocolate. Sweet, but not at all cloying. A dessert accented barleywine. Well done.
