Creamy chocolate nose, some candied cherry and old wood. black with a sticky tan ring of a head that left great lace. strong wine notes, chewy charcoal and dusty baking chocolate. toasted espresso and raspberry finish. tannic character from the wine is light on the tongue though still very powerful in strength.

On tap at Elliott Bay West Seattle location. This was the best beer from Elliott Bay I have ever had. I was very happy I got to try this. Pours out black topped with a nice tan head. Aroma was so good cherries, chocolate, wood, vanilla, and rich roast. Taste was just as good with a nice light sweetness. A good fruit note along with a nice malt back.

Syrah notes on nose, berry, wood, a hint of chocolate, light roasted malt notes. Pours black with an initially big frothy tan head that settles to a ring with nice lace. Flavors are full of syrah notes - wood, dark berries, chocolate in mid palate is light, with roasted husky malt notes rounding out finish. Light carbonation, a little thinner on palate, but nice. Tons of syrah. I really like this. Lingering syrah flavors. Drinking durng the day in the middle of the week is tight.

Tap at the West Seattle Elliott Bay pub. Black pour with a small white head. Aroma is a little bit of roast and chocolate and the syrah red wine. Flavor is of roasted malt up front. The chocolate is muted and barely noticable, but the syrah comes through strongly with a full, slightly tart berry taste that is most noticable near the finish. A little woody on the finish, and a touch dry. Very tasty, but I feel like I would like this better as just the syrah porter, as I wasn’t too impressed with the taste I had of the chocolate porter on its own. I’m sorry to have missed it.
