Imperial-strength citrus hop monster
...an ale that connects the malty and hoppy hemispheres of the mammalian brain... A Double (Imperial) IPA modeled after Brewer Dan’s California IPA...and then some! Some qualities that distinguish it from Demolition are: different malts lend a biscuit and nutty flavor different kettle and dry hops adds a fresh and strong citrus aroma, which is what really defines the style Corpus Callosum is that part of the human brain that connects its two hemispheres.Malt Varieties: Organic Pale, Organic Munich, Organic Crystal, Dark Munich, Victory Hop Varieties: Columbus, Chinook, Amarillo, Simcoe OG: 18.8°P IBU:71

On tap at Uber. Rich amber. Fair head. Sweet malt and strong hop scent. Woody hops. Thick malt blended with alcohol and spicy hop.

On tap at Naked City, pours a hazy vibrant orange amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of perfume, floral notes, tropical fruits and booze. Flavour of candied sugar, nail polish remover, citrus hops and caramel malt - but the blend is off. What stands out are the nail polish remover, booze and sweetness, as well as a distasteful astringency on the finish. Not well-crafted.

My Bottom Line:
Spicy, orangey hops bloom into a poignant coniferous finish in this Double IPA’s nourishing mouthfeel.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam laces around the misty honeyed amber.
-The concentrated herbal hop bitterness is powerful, and redolent of absinth at times.
-The flavor profile was more intense than the aroma.
-Malts offered light cereal and caramel connotations, but mostly played second fiddle.

On tap at Uber Tavern.

Bronze-amber, thick poofy, lightly tanned head. Floral pinneaply aroma drowns the nose in its tropical island song. Dominant pinneaple hop body with winces of pine and a bitter edge that keeps this from becoming cloying. Bitter-sweet pineapple-pine finish.

On tap at West Seattle location. Pours honey brown with beige foamy head and lace. Pine and citrus hops in the nose with a caramel background. Tastes more like an amber or a brown than an IPA. Caramel and toasted malts with a bitter citrus finish.

Draft at Naked City. Pours a chill hazed dark golden with a creamy off white head and lots of airy bubbles. Nose is mostly hop forward with a good amount of sweet grapefruit, orange and over ripe pineapple. The malt only props up or enhances the hops on the nose...really enjoyable. Whoa, the malt comes out in the flavor. The ’nutty’ and ’biscuit’ are really appearent. Hops are really sweet and syurpy feeling. The fruit notes appearent on the nose aren’t as identifiable on the palate. More grass comes through in the flavor. Not bad, but the flavor doesn’t support the nose and too much malt for me.

Draft at Naked City, spelled Hoppus Collossum there. Pours a slightly cloudy bright gold with some coppery overtones. Loose platinum blond head and decent stringy lace. Nice caramel, mango, and pineapple nose, but not striking and certainly not overwhelming. Creamy medium body with plenty of lively carb, very nice. The mid-palate, though, wow, what a great payload of tropical fruit--mango, pineapple, orange, some grapefruit. Booze is well hidden and the finish is fairly clean, with some nice lingering sweet tropical fruit. Good one.

On tap at Naked City. Amber-ish pour, thin white head. The aroma is a good mix of grapefruit and caramel malts. More caramel malts in the flavors, somewhat sweet followed by a good blast of fruity grapefruit, citrus and floral hops in the finish. A little lingering bitterness, but good fruity and citrus IIPA. Second IIPA on draught of the day and this one was significantly better than the Iron Horse IIPA. Hopefully I will get another chance with this one.
