UPDATED: MAR 24, 2008 Subdued milk chocolate/coffee/roast malt aroma. Black in color with a big tan head. Very watery and low key with just mild roasted malt notes and the barest hint of coffee and chocolate.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 presario (4133) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 14, 2005
Thick and black. Trace of sourness. Good amount of roasted malt. No dominant flavours. Sweetness in the middle. Moderate finish. Very drinkable (is that like saying "she has a great personality"?). Trifle too cold.

at the brewpub or karaoke 70’s lounge. this place is the getto. not your typical brewpub atmosphere. think this is the same beer. only said ’stout’ on the tap hand no xxx. typical look of almost opaque dark brown ruby colors with a tan head. not much nose or maybe a small amt of choc/burnt nut. palate was rather thin and weak in carbonation. same flavors of espresso, choc malt and nuts. somwhat thin and uninteresting.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Dogbrick (4837) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - OCT 15, 2004
The only full beer I tried on my trip to the brewpub, I decided to splurge and pay the $1 since I am a fan of Stouts. I guess it was worth the dollar. Served way too cold first of all. Pours almost black with a creamy light beige head. Thin sheet of lacing on the glass. The aroma is mildly roasty, with some coffee present. Medium-bodied and on the carbonated side. Mundane flavor as with the other Ellis Island beers, slightly nutty with some malt and hops. The finish is crisp for a Stout, not very hoppy or bitter - just crisp. Probably the best you can do at this casino but still a barely average beer. What a waste of a 'XXX'.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 BückDich (5468) - McCall, Idaho, USA - OCT 9, 2004
Some color, darker black than the dark at least. Nose of chocolate, coffee and a bit of turpentine & roasted roadkill. Finishes a bit toasty & doughy like a shot of raw flour in the mouth. Full bodied, plastic palm trees and fromica are filling my thoughts. This is Bob Hope’s turf!
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Braudog (4607) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - MAY 9, 2004
50% tan, solid head on black. Mild coffee aroma. Smooth and vaguely sweet with a light bitter finish. Average.
