3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 jaycp (4) - copenhagen, DENMARK - OCT 6, 2009 does not count
i remember this beer on my travell around australia in 2005. the beer for me at the time had a forgetable startinging taste but managed to grow some legs and gain a long after taste. long malty nutty flavour. it always left an impression how it tranformed. pitty about the initial flavour but was a good enough beer to go for a few. i would love to give it another go with some more expriance under the belt. ( great beer garden to by the way.... back yard cricket!!!)
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 DuffMan (4427) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - APR 21, 2009
Sampled at the brewery on our recent return visit to Perth and the Swan Valley. Clear tea-coloured amber, average ecru head. Toasty aromas and flavours, very light in the hop department, perhaps a little nutty. Simple but enjoyable.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 ALLOVATE (1711) - Butler, WA, AUSTRALIA - AUG 19, 2006
Vom fass @ the brewhouse/restaurant, Henley Brook.
The best of the bunch as far as balance, flavour and sessionability goes. I hope it’s now a different brew from that which Bluevegie trialled. Chestnut, tawny amber in body, subliminal haze about it (all beers are unfiltered), and very light in carbonation. Firm, albeit soapy lather of off-white foam formed, lasted and drabbed down the glass well. Woody, smoky, salted, roasted nut aroma that was down-right pleasing. Nice depth of malt in the mouth despite its light body. Spritzy carbonation yields some firm nutty, dry, slightly tannic, smoky dark malts (too many comma’s used so far, big no-no!!!). Finish has some sharp bitter hops that displace the malt swiftly and add another dimension to this very quaffable ale. Its aftertaste is woody, softly astringent, and quite nutty and fresh. This has session ale written all over it and the patron’s of this German brewhouse agree. This was a nice drop.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 bluevegie (2930) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - APR 10, 2005
Orange body with tinges of red and light muddy brown. This was unfiltered also and had the best head retention of the three beers tried. Initially the taste was fairly bland but right at the end could pick up cookie and or malt. The previous two beers tried had some character and this was a play it safe beer for the customers.
