An old style mild, strong but carefully hopped to allow the malts to flourish. Liquorice hints balance the lasting nutty finish.

Bottle from beersofeurope.co.uk. Bottle conditioned. Pours black, decent head for a bottled beer. Aroma is delicious: malt, Marmite, peanut butter, slightly smoked. Tastes mildly bitter, malt, coffee, woody but the overwhelming aftertaste is smokey but in an unpleasant way - like an old snooker hall - which spoilt it for me.

Soapy fruity blackberry aroma which initially leads to a very smoky woody taste. This settles down midway to a fine dry fruitiness with good strong roast notes. The alcohol becomes quite noticeable late on with plenty of warmth in the finish. Good strong mild.
