3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber bottle from Halftimebeverage.com delivered to Pittsburgh of all places. Shared with my wife and her girlfriend, both of whom were excited to see the inclusion of yerba mate, a favorite tea of theirs. None of us could really detect a strong presence of tea flavorings and I sense they were slightly disappointed overall. Me too. For a premiere series brew with a great apocalyptic theme, Elysian is off with an average and ho-hum start.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap last night at Blind Tiger with Erica, Matt, Steph. Also had it on tap there 12.20.2012 with Maggi, Andy, James, Christian. Opaque pale yellow pour into tulip. Sweet and cloying, with sweet and pleasingly zesty yeast profile that made it taste almost like a saison or hefe. Didn’t have much of the medicinal flavor that I kind of dislike about abbeys.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft. Pours gold with a white head. Fruity, peachy, and yeasty, with lighter floral notes, honey, and spices. Decent.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz. bottle shared by DrSilverworm. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a small white head. The aroma is on the mild side, but does show some herbal, green tea, light fruity and light yeasty notes. The flavor was herbal, dry, mildly fruity, earthy with pale malts. An interesting spin on a tripel.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Blind Tiger, NYC tap ($7.50): Pours a golden color with a white head. Aroma is banana, clove, citrus, and tea. The tea did much more to this beer than I though it would, providing a somewhat unique taste. The taste is also quite sweet, as per usual with tripels. Hops are pretty minimal, but provide a little bit extra. Good, but not that great.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at Stagshead. Pours pretty golden with white head. nose if fruity and bready. tastes of vanilla, tropical fruits, yeast, earth, white pepper, light butterscotch. not as big of flavor as really good triples though.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Draft at Blind Tiger after the Wintersun / Eluveitie show with Andrew and Brendan. Pours a light golden body with tons of carbonation sticking to the inside of my glass - very weird. Aroma is sweet candy, light estery yeast. Mouthfeel is thin, bubbly carbonation with notes of light booze, sweet cloying candy, fruit, light breadiness and yeast. Another reminder of my personal disatisfaction in Belgian tripels.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
22oz bottle, shared. Mostly clear, orange-gold color. Little white head, bit of lace. Smooth, lighter carbonation. This is an interesting tripel... Some interesting earthy notes here, along with the light spice that you’d expect. Dry texture. Light bitter taste, some spice. Interesting augmentation

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared by Dr. Silverworm. Poured clear amber color with an average fizzy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate complex spice citrus & yeast aroma. Medium body with a dry texture and soft carbonation. Medium balanced bittersweet citrus flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Balanced drinkable beer.
