COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
NIBIRU, named for the mysterious planet X supposedly on a collision course toward earth. Nibiru is a Belgian style tripel flavored with an infusion of yerba mate. Combining the yeasty esters of Belgian yeast and the compelling tea-like flavors of the South American herb mixture, with German Northern Brewer, Czech Saaz and American Amarillo hops round out the uniqueness of this first beer of the Apocalypse. Draft at GABBF. The description of this beer scared me a little, so I figured I better drink up in case we’re all on a collision course. Hazy golden brown color, thin white head. Aroma of funky straw and citrus. Taste starts sweet then spiced with some orange peel. Interesting.

Bottle shared at the Sander Stag. Pours clear honey-gold with a frothy, white head. Sugary wheat bread in the nose, some hay, berries, white grape. Medium to heavy sweet flavour with more berries, ctackers, doughy wheat, light toffee, white grape gummies. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly warming finish with further sugary wheat bread, light dough, meringue, citrus, white sugar, more gummies. Novel.

Tap at Elysian, Seattle, 27/05/13. Clear light golden with a thin off white head. Nose is rich in caramel, dark fruits, light spice, boozey notes, yeast esters. Taste comprises summer fruits, caramel vein pumping throughout, light yeast notes, sugars, citrus. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light booze notes in a sweetish finish. Ok tripel, the booze and sugar are fairlt well balanced.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours golden amber with a creamy/bubbly beige head. Aroma reminds of old fashioned linoleum paste. Fruit, maybe also banana, peppery clove spice. Near full bodied. Flavor is definitely peppery, lightly stone fruit, touch of tropical fruit, and a lot of bitter hop. Finishes very peppery. Pushing the Belgian limits here.

22 oz. bottle, pours a mostly clear golden orange with a small white head. Aroma of apples, pears, candied sugar, cotton candy, bubblegum and some tea. Flavour of some odd spices and herbs, with dried apples and pears, sort of tea-like quality I suppose, and yeast. Medium complexity with some odd spices which I assume are from the tea.

Medium body with a dry texture and soft carbonation. Medium balanced bittersweet citrus flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Balanced drinkable beer.
