COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
NIBIRU, named for the mysterious planet X supposedly on a collision course toward earth. Nibiru is a Belgian style tripel flavored with an infusion of yerba mate. Combining the yeasty esters of Belgian yeast and the compelling tea-like flavors of the South American herb mixture, with German Northern Brewer, Czech Saaz and American Amarillo hops round out the uniqueness of this first beer of the Apocalypse. Bomber from Hayduke. We had a bottle together via facebook chat. This is lightly hazed golden with a foamy white head. Sticky lacing remains. The aroma is herbal but there is so much going on in it. Spices, malts, and more. Interesting and unique. The flavor almost matches the aroma for uniqueness and is at least as interesting. There are spices, malts, herbal notes, sticky fruit, candi sugar, Belgian yeast, subtle hops. This beer was so much fun to drink. It was all over the place with flavor and changed personality so often. Thanks Ron!

Bomber from State Line, Elkton, MD. Cloudy golden pour with a fluffy, silky looking head. Nose is very dry, which I vastly prefer to the estery mess of most American tripels. Playful mouthfeel, a pretty significant spiciness on the palate. And more of that to taste, as the brew is grassy and yeasty as fuck. Noble hop additions benefit the brew, and what might be a fairly anonymous base is enlivened by this among other additions.

Bottle... Poured golden amber/orange with a thick, bubbly, eggy head. Nice lacing and retention. An extremely refreshing beer. The matte creating a soothing palate with a hint of smoke and phenols. Smooth, belgian yeast esters and spices. Earthy hop flavors and floridness. Citrus, grassy tones and a hint of malt sweetness to help the body.

Sweet malt nose. Golden pour, medium head. Funk and light malt flavor. No alcohol detected, light body. Drinks like a single, quite tame.

22oz. bottle shared by DrSilverworm. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a small white head. The aroma is on the mild side, but does show some herbal, green tea, light fruity and light yeasty notes. The flavor was herbal, dry, mildly fruity, earthy with pale malts. An interesting spin on a tripel.

Location: 22 oz bottle from State Line, 8/16/12

Aroma: The nose is fairly sweet, some fruit, spice, Belgian yeast, cookie, candied sugar and light tea
Appearance: It pours a hazed golden color with a small, slightly fizzy white head, and light lace
Flavor: The taste is moderately sweet, yeast, tea, a plus-spice component, and a light bitterness
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has a fizzy carbonation, a clean feel, and a slightly dry finish
Overall Impression: Here goes the 1st of the series, which is my 3rd (in reverse order from 3-1). Anyway, this one is pretty interesting. The nose is rather sweet, but the sweetness is balanced out by the spice and light bitterness in the flavor. Overall, it works decently well, but it isn’t a standout.

Shared with Strykzone via Facebook Chat, he in Illinois and me in Idaho. Poured a cloudy gold with a big white head and a lot of big lacing rings. Nose is spicy. Medium in body. Lively in mouthfeel. Flavor is very interesting, and keeps morphing with every sip, but always stay tasty. The yerba mate is a great addition. Really enjoyable and unique.

22oz bottle, shared. Mostly clear, orange-gold color. Little white head, bit of lace. Smooth, lighter carbonation. This is an interesting tripel... Some interesting earthy notes here, along with the light spice that you’d expect. Dry texture. Light bitter taste, some spice. Interesting augmentation

Blind Tiger, NYC tap ($7.50): Pours a golden color with a white head. Aroma is banana, clove, citrus, and tea. The tea did much more to this beer than I though it would, providing a somewhat unique taste. The taste is also quite sweet, as per usual with tripels. Hops are pretty minimal, but provide a little bit extra. Good, but not that great.

650 ml. bottle. Pours aa medium white head, with some lacing, over a clear gold (SRM 5) body....nose is light pear, hints of apple, bit of floral tones, cereal...taste is pear, apple, hints of floral honey, light sweetness, later hint of green pepper, leading to a slightly harsh bite from the hop yerba mate combination which lingers....mouth feel medium, carbonation low. This meets the style, with the exception that pepper aromas and flavors are too hidden. The use of the yerba mate as part of the late bittering in the taste palette is quite clever, but does not really get to the same place that the more typical recipes do. BJCP 7/3/12/4/7
