650 ml. bottle. Pours aa medium white head, with some lacing, over a clear gold (SRM 5) body....nose is light pear, hints of apple, bit of floral tones, cereal...taste is pear, apple, hints of floral honey, light sweetness, later hint of green pepper, leading to a slightly harsh bite from the hop yerba mate combination which lingers....mouth feel medium, carbonation low. This meets the style, with the exception that pepper aromas and flavors are too hidden. The use of the yerba mate as part of the late bittering in the taste palette is quite clever, but does not really get to the same place that the more typical recipes do. BJCP 7/3/12/4/7

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a thin white head. Aroma was herbal with bread, yeast, citrus and fruity esters. Flavor was belgian yeast, earth, herbs, fruit, candi sugar and spices.

Bottled. Not sure if it was just the branding or what but it really was very tea-like, a pale tea color, tea aroma, tea taste. Not bad but interesting. Could have used a bit more pop.

Draught. Malty without being too sweet. Aroma has some yeastiness. Rathe full bodied. I could not taste the yerba mate.

pours a fizzy, semi-cloudy orange with a very large white foamy head, and good lacing.
smell is of bread yeast, floral, and a touch of citrus.
taste is chalky, yeast, some citrus, and a funky taste that i assume is the yerba mate. ends dry yet smooth.

Super clear and with a firm persistent head. Sweet pears and a familiar Belgian yeast dominate the nose. I’m not familiar with Yerba Mate but I guess it must contribute a lightly earthy note and heaps and heaps of apple and pear flavor. Some real bitterness and a strange light smokiness mingle with a fruity sweetness.

Bottle @ 18th RG. Yellow gold with white head and light lacing. Smells like grassy tart bubble gum. Very clean light tart flavor. Slight wateriness.

Pours light amber with a sheet of white. Smells of classic American style triple Ashlee and just a hint of yerba. Taste follows asking the same with sweet notes and a little bit of coriander.mouth feel its a little hi with smooth carb.decent, but nothing special

Tap at 16 Tons. Yellow/amber pour with a big, bubbly white head. Herbal and floral with Belgian yeast and light citrus, this one really did not meld together well in my opinion.

THOUGHTS: Nice. Not a great tripel, but a very nice beer. I was a bit tired when I started trying this and the caffeine in it must be very high because halfway through I was wide awake and slightly anxious.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a medium to dark yellow to very light orange. Let’s just call it golden. It had a small, slightly off-white head that mostly diminished and left just barely fair lacing. The aroma had light to moderate pale malts, light-colored bread, and biscuit; light to moderate herbal and grassy hops; light to moderate spicy yeast; lighter earthy hops; slight funk; banana; some sort of herbal tea; and light fruits. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and slightly acidic; while the finish was moderate to heavily sweet; light to moderately acidic and slight to lightly bitter. There was pale malt, spicy yeast, slightly earthy yeast, herbal tea, light-colored fruits, honey, white bread, cake, slight funk, biscuit, and floral hops. The light to medium body leaned toward medium and was syrupy and a bit oily and then slightly dry with soft but tingly carbonation and a dry and slightly astringent finish.
