COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
NIBIRU, named for the mysterious planet X supposedly on a collision course toward earth. Nibiru is a Belgian style tripel flavored with an infusion of yerba mate. Combining the yeasty esters of Belgian yeast and the compelling tea-like flavors of the South American herb mixture, with German Northern Brewer, Czech Saaz and American Amarillo hops round out the uniqueness of this first beer of the Apocalypse. Poured from a 22oz bottle into an ale mug. Rich golden color. The slightest bit of cloudiness - is there a secondary fermenation? One finger of head on the pour, dissipates fairly quickly, but a bit lingers for quigte some time. Not much lace on the sides of the glass - just a few dots here and there. Aroma is different than I would expect. Some malted barley. Some esters and phenols, somewhat like papaya. Some grassy notes. Flavor is reminiscient of Duvel - rich and sweet, with some of the earthy almost peaty flavor I get with a Belgian blonde. Decent amount of hops from the boil, perhaps the herbal qualities of the yerba mate as well, means it finishes dry, almost astringent. Rich body, with mild carbonation. Overall, a fun beer and I am looking forward to the next installment from one of my favorite local Seattle breweries.

"Pretty nice beer though not a standout by Elysians hefty standards. the traditional aromas and flavors are all there...bubble gum and a bit of clove, with some light fruit and citrus, and itís also got a grassy herbal bite, which is unique (but not something i;d want all the time. nice warming feel."

Poured cloudy golden. Appealing aromatics showing esters and some banana. The Yerba mate is not apparent and this, while tasty is, at the end of the day, an ordinary domestic take on a Belgian Tripel. This turned a bit dull as it warmed up.
