Omen is a delicious combination of darkness, raspberries and the classic flavors and aromas of Belgian yeast.

On tap. Opaque with a quarter inch of creamy foam. Aromas of cocoa and coffee mingle with traces of funk and berry. Flavors are an excellent blend of the same, with the berry staying in the background. Medium-heavy body is well balanced, has medium-high carbonation and is pretty sessionable.

Got a chance to try this entry into the apocalypse series last fall. Great take on a fruit stout

Bottle from ABC Beer Co. I think I drank it last Friday (3/29) in the apartment, shared with Erica. Pours black. Thin- to medium-body, some roasty/toasty notes and a little bit of fruit. To be honest Iím not 100pc sure I would have noticed the raspberry if I hadnít read the label, but thatís probably my own fault. Anyway, I liked that it was subtle.

THOUGHTS: The taste was delightful, but something seemed way off. Not nearly as good as I thought itíd be. The Belgian yeast seemed to dominate not compliment the other aroma. Some raspberry finally broke through at the very end. Toward the end the aroma improved a little and the flavor faltered. But both occurred a little too late to effect the scoring. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a dark brown that was basically black in the glass with an average tan head that mostly diminished and left excellent lacing. The aroma had heavy roasted and burnt malts; heavy to harsh spicy yeast; lighter dusty and doughy yeast (blocking a lot of the raspberry); and raspberry. The initial flavor was slightly sweet and lightly bitter; while the finish was lightly sweet and moderately bitter with a little longer than average duration. There was dark chocolate, roasted malt, dark coffee, raspberry, raspberry chocolate, spicy yeast, chocolate syrup, coffee, milk chocolate and dusty yeast. The medium body was a little oily and then dry with fizzy carbonation and a metallic and slightly alcoholic finish.

From tap at City Tap House. Pours pitch black with a small chocolate brown head. Aroma is fruity; raspberries, roasted malty too. Smooth raspberry fruity to a dark roasted malty base. Smooth and lingering dark malty with a light citric raspberry note.

Bottle. Pours very dark brown - almost black- with tan head. Nose and taste of chocolate covered raspberries, dusty cocoa, roast chocolate malt, coffee roast and vanilla. Finishes with slightly soured raspberries but still plenty of roast. Body is a little on the lighter side of medium.

A really wonderful ripple of raspberry works itís way through this beer, lightly tart, lightly sweet and very, very juicy. It pairs wonderfully with the chocolate of the malt. The finish is dominated by the roasted malts and a dry character that could be the yeast. The bitterness is light but lasting.

Smells modestly of dark chocolate and a tinge of raspberry. Tate is basically the same. Meh ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black color with lasting tan head. Nice dark chocolate, raspberry jam, dark roast malt aromas. Smooth medium body. Dark chocolate, fresh raspberry jam flavors with deep roast malt, and pie crust--very tasty stout.
