2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Black, moderate head, uninspiring aroma of slightly roasted malt. Flavor is light, very slightly roasted malt, slight tartness, mild bitterness. Raspberry is very far in the background. Mouthfeel is thin and the finish is mild bitterness and sour. Serious lack of depth or complexity here. This is a really confused beer that doesn’t come close to hitting the target as ether a stout, a Belgian ale, or a fruit beer. Could have been really interesting, but the brewer dropped the ball.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a near-black color with a moderate tan head on there. Nose is roasty with some hints of char and just a little bit of raspberry coming through. Taste is roasty and a bit sweet, but is much fruitier than the nose would suggest. Decent.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Good Dog. Black pour (that showed as a clear dark ruby under bright light) with a slight tight beige head. Without knowing any better, feels like an acidic dark stout. Expected coffee, chocolate, liquorice notes up front when cold. Some mild acetic notes off the top as well. Not until it warms do the dark red raspberry notes kick in - and it makes it feel a bit off. The raspberry flavor is not particularly strong to me but not getting the sense of true actual fruit here. Not terrible - but not the real thing. Wished I liked it better - but not, not, not.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 14/20
Beer isn’t meant to me analyzed. Or tasted or smelled. Or geeked over. I shouldve taken their advise on their own product. Its rotten fake raspberry juice. BLEH!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber from Whole Foods PM. Pours thick and jet black, with very little light through, and 3-finger khaki head. Nose is intense raspberries, cacao, dark malt. Tastes of dark malt, fresh raspberries, cacao, yeast.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at the brewery. Plastic cup. Gotta love owning day Mariners baseball. Clearly as a re-release, independent from the series. I don’t think the beer has changed one bit. Just the name has become a little more abbreviated. Pours black with a creamy tan head. Sweet mild coffee aroma. Raspberry chocolate flavor. Actually really reminds me of a Theo’s brand raspberry chocolate bar. Rich flavor with a sweet raspberry flavor. This beer is growing on me. Pretty good stuff.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Is this a re-release? Screen printed bottle from Costco. Opaque black body, nice creamy almond colored head, fades quick to a skiff, nice creamy lacing. Aroma smells of the first snow (metal) mostly, with coffee, fruit, and brown sugar. Taste is roasty coffee, sweet metally, and tart berries, with some cocoa and coffee finish. Palate is a bit light for style, but not thin. Carbonation nicely subdued and soft. Finish is almost dry, in spite of slightly sweet mid-palate. I thought the metally taste would be a problem, but it’s not really, though I usually consider that a flaw.

2015.03.29 - Elysian Omen Raspberry Stout - on tap at Always Ron's.
No long review. This is right down the middle for me. Not bad not great. The raspberry is a bit perfumy at first but as I work my way through the beer it gets to be better balanced.
Does what it says on the tin. I can imagine raspberry stout being done better.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sample at the Super Bowl Viewing and Beer tasting on 02/01/2015. The beer is a dark brownish-black color with a touch of ruby around the edges. Medium khaki head that diminishes steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and mild raspberry. Medium-bodied with flavors of roasted malt, sweet chocolate and raspberries. The finish is malty up front with a subtle berry aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22oz bottle in a teku. Pours black with big, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, some light raspberries, hints of spices, some notes of chocolate. Flavor the same with a decent and weird blend. Average texture. A sort of weird beer.
