Aroma: strong raspberry and lightly dark-chocolate--the raspberry aroma was strong until the last drop of beer.
Appearance: large, rocky, light-brown, initial head with fully diminishing longevity and good lacing. Black-hued body with lots of bubbles.
Taste: lightly bitter initial taste with moderately bitter/sour finish and long duration.
Palate: light to medium-bodied with dry texture and soft carbonation.
Overall: excellent. Complex. Amazing aroma, interesting palate and taste.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
October edition, thought I coulda sworn the October release was supposed to be a sour....
Pours dark brown on black with a confluent thick sheet of tan foam. Smells of chocolate, black olives, some raspberry mash, soil and a bit of coffee grounds. Flavor is sweet and reminds me up front of a black saison with artificial raspberry flavors. Some coffee, cocoa nib, a bit of sweet yeast esters. Medium bodied with small, loosely gathered carbonation. This is one of the lesser apocalyptic productions.

Draught @ The Ginger Man, NYC. Pours murky dark cherry red with small light tan head. Clear aroma of chocolate and malt. Dark flavour of malt, roast and chocolate with notes of coffee. Mild finish. OK. A very nice stout, but the fruity note is absent.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Nice. Very raspberry forward. Belgian zing is there, as is the stout foundation. However, I'd personally dial down the raspberries; as it is, they're a little overpowering and prevent any complexity from shining through. B

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle:   Nearly black, large frothy beige head nice lacing.   Pale roastiness with a slight fruity tinge to it.   Hard to nail down, other than to say it has a fruity sweetness on top of the soft roasted malts.
Smooth on the tongue, moderate roast, slight berries, not as fruity as I thought for a "fruit beer".   However, while it feels fairly dark like an Imperial Porter or Stout, it does have a fruity aspect that most don’t have.
Sweet roasted malts, but also fruity/berryish.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Clean finish.   Seems like a very good fruity Stout.   Best of both worlds, biting roasted malt background and sweet fruity
forefront.   Smooth, roasty, malty, but also has a slight fruitiness to it.   More of a Stout than a Fruit Beer, but regardless its tasty!   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Sweet berry like finish, along with a strong
roastiness.   One of the better Apocalyptic releases from Elysian.   Fruity stout for teh win!

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
THOUGHTS: The taste was delightful, but something seemed way off. Not nearly as good as I thought it’d be. The Belgian yeast seemed to dominate not compliment the other aroma. Some raspberry finally broke through at the very end. Toward the end the aroma improved a little and the flavor faltered. But both occurred a little too late to effect the scoring.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a dark brown that was basically black in the glass with an average tan head that mostly diminished and left excellent lacing. The aroma had heavy roasted and burnt malts; heavy to harsh spicy yeast; lighter dusty and doughy yeast (blocking a lot of the raspberry); and raspberry. The initial flavor was slightly sweet and lightly bitter; while the finish was lightly sweet and moderately bitter with a little longer than average duration. There was dark chocolate, roasted malt, dark coffee, raspberry, raspberry chocolate, spicy yeast, chocolate syrup, coffee, milk chocolate and dusty yeast. The medium body was a little oily and then dry with fizzy carbonation and a metallic and slightly alcoholic finish.
