This was shared with Styrkzone via Facebook Chat. It is so fun to share the same beer 1,500 miles apart. It poured a dark cola color with a big yellowish beige head, and good lacing. The nose is floral and you can get the heather though it is not overpowering. The body is medium and the mouthfeel is exceptionally smooth and easy on the palate. The flavor shifts around from fruity to herbal. The finish is flavorful hops, with the heather always present, and there is a dry bitterness with a hint of sour in the last of it. Overall a really easy to drink beer, exceptionally well crafted, and good from first drop to last drop.

Bottle:   Dirty amber, a little dark and dull, thin to moderate sudsy off-white head, spotty lacing.   Soft floral nose, a little herbal and soapy in a way.   A little prickly on the tongue, soft heather, little hop aspect.   Remains a bit herbal, slight earth tinge.   Seems like an American Pale that is light in hops, but has a floral and herbal nose that comes through very soft on the tongue.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   As it warms it gets a bit more towards an American Pale in the hop bitterness comes out a bit more.   When I think Traditional I think of Hair of the Dog Adam.   This is not that big, but interesting in its own right.   Finishes with a touch of floral and herbal aspects, perhaps a touch of lavendar.   I suppose there is also heather, but seems on the lighter side.   At least a little different from the norm.   Can’t shake that fancy soap stuff tho, especially on the tongue.

22oz bottle. Pours a clear, deep orangish amber with a white one finger head that has good retention. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, light citrus, light grapefruit and pineapple. Flavor is citrus hops, sweet malt, light fruit and a spicy herbal flavor from the heather. Finishes sweet, citrusy and some hoppy prickly bitterness. Medium bodied with some creaminess.

heather ale on tapat the bocktown monaca, nice place! Looks like pale lager with a pond scum head. Initially has a quite strong warming effect going down the throat. Almost flat. A little astringent in the persentation. Finish is medium medicinal alky linger. Can not really detect any spices in there which means it well designed.

Blind Tiger, NYC tap ($7.50): Pours a golden color with a white head. Aroma is earth, tea, malts, and sugar. Taste is somewhat sweet. Tastes similar to the Scottish heather ales. The heather gives it a nice earthy kick that balances well with the malty sweetness. ’Twas nice.

Thanks to 5000 for sending me this bottle. The beer pours an orange color with a white head. The aroma is full of some herbal notes, as well as some toffee and biscuit malt. The flavor is similar. The heather quality definitely comes through but it is complimented by some orange citrus, as well as some toffee and biscuit malt. The bitterness is low. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

UPDATED: OCT 12, 2012 Pours a hazy orange with a thick white head that fades and leaves soapy lacing. Smells of caramel, floral, honey, and heather. Tastes like honey, caramel and a wierd sweet tea like taste which I?m assuming is the heather. Mouthfeel is medium all around. Overall this is a unique and interesting beer like most in the beers of the apocalypse series. I enjoyed it.
