Amber-hued, brewed with Washington Select pale, Weyermann Cara-red and Belgian Aromatic and Special B malts. Medjool dates were chopped and soaked in Metaxa Greek brandy, then puréed and added to the fermenter. German Northern Brewer to bitter and Sorachi Ace to finish, along with grains of paradise late in the boil. We fermented it with French Saison yeast.

Real interesting nose full of dates, dark fruit, spicy yeast notes, sweet orangey notes, brandy. Pours reddish amber, thin head. The flavor is unique spiciness with a good deal of candied dates, some interesting brandy notes, and soft bitterness in the finish. Lingering spicy, a little heat. Very unique beer.

Draught at Birch & Barley/Churchkey. Clear dark orangey with no head. Aroma moderate malty (light caramel, raisin, dates, grains of paradise, light metaxa, honey, woody), light yeasty (kind of bret.) and hoppy. Flavor moderate sweet and sourish with a light bitter end, very sophisticated. Medium body.

Draft. Crystal clear amber body, medium off-white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, raisin, some grains of paradise, light brandy, honey. Taste is moderately sweet, grains of paradise, some earthy, light date/raisin, honey. Medium body.

Orange sunrise color, thinnish head that is thicker around the edges. Spiced nose abuzz with esters and phenols, but yet in a restrained manner, as if shimmering amidst the olfactory senses towards a greater awakening. Some pricks of tartness at the tail end. The body is spicy wheaty again with buzzy esters and traces of phenols. Tannic spices quickly emerge. Tart-pepper finish.
