On tap. Pours a hazed medium brown color with a thin white collar and light lace. Aroma is soft, sweet malts with a mild nuttiness. Taste is very malt forward with toffee, sweet dough and lightly roasted nuts, with a mild pine undertone. Medium body with a moderate soft carbonation.

Dark brown in color, clear with a thin head. Nice nut and dark malt flavor. This was a nice light tasty brew.

Draft at Churchkey. Deep, rich brown pour with a decently sized frothy white head. Nose holds nice soft nuttiness, with some bready malt and light plum and nectarine notes added in the flavor. A decent brown ale, but nothing special.

Draft. Clear maroon, thick tan head, solid lacing. Aroma of milk chocolate. Taste starts sweet then has s nice bitter balance with grass and light pine. Decent.

Oakes (12777) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 15, 2012
Medium brown colour. Not much head. Mild aroma mixes nuts and caramel. Light bodied, a little toasty and a little nutty. Finishes reasonably dry. Decent brown ale, with no real chestnut character. (the ones in Europe don’t have it either).

Draft @ Elysian Fields. Nice rich true chestnut brown color. Very dark. Aroma is not huge, very mellow, cakey but not sweet. Thin and not super flavorful but a genuine chestnut beer! Well made. Nice rich cakey dark malts, excellent malt character. Better than many other chestnut beers as it’s nice and dry and balanced. And refreshing, too.

draft at the elysian pike street. pours a cloudy dark brown...not, in fact, entirely unlike a chestnut. mild sweet brown sugar nose with earthy and nutty tones. watery light body. sweet sugar and nut mid palate. turns christmas tradition on its head, in a mild, dark, lagery way.

riversideAK (5625) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - OCT 27, 2009
Nose is very interesting per the style. Nutty, doughy, earthy with hints of chocolate and caramel as well. A touch of bread. Brown pour, muddy with a creamy head. The flavor is also somewhat doughy, earthy, nutty. Light smokey notes. Interesting earthy dustiness. High drinkability at around 4%.

Draft. Pours a mahogany body with an off white head. Chewy toffee and nutty with a malt driven body well accented with roasted malt and some dry malt. Thin simple and session able. Win.

Gorgeous deep mahogany and ruby color with luscious head. Pleasant, moderately hopped aroma, perhaps with a dusting of nut and malt. Musky, smoked beech flavor. Nice, but not really a "nut brown" quality.
