DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 4, 2008 Bottle, 22oz from Capone’s. Pours dark straw with 2-finger off-white head. Nose is juicy wet hops, fruity, malty, mango, black pepper, perfumy florals. Tastes very perfumy, peppery, hoppy, like drinking a female rosey perfume, with hops, huge florals, and spicy jasmine notes. Medium hefy yet very complex palate with a smooth, complex finish. Not a hop bomb, per se, but a floral/Jasmine bomb. KnutAlbert (3100), Oslo, Norway Oct 3, 2008 On tap at the Ginger Man, NYC.
Wonderful flowery aroma - lots of jasmine here. The flavour is sweet flowers combined with a piney hoppy bitterness. Unusual, daring, very pleasant. Dry finish. AgentSteve (1334), SF Bay Area, California, USA Oct 1, 2008 Updated: Feb 26, 2009Side by side with Fantabulous Resplendence, this one blows FFF away. Attractive clear copper pour with a finger thick cream colored head. The nose is floral hoppy with a hint of the jasmine. The flavor was dry and hoppy with a nice balance of caramel malt. Finishes dry and a bit earthy. Creamy on the palate. alexanderj (2204), Chino Hills, California, USA Sep 26, 2008 ON tap. Dark gold in color, with some brownish hues. Head was a bit frothy. Aroma was quite strange; fruity and floral. Almost reminded me of artificial grape flavor. Some caramel. Just a strange aroma, probably because of the flowers. Flavor again was quite strange. Very earthy, floral and fruity aroma. Could have been a bit more balanced. Rather unique for the style. Might be hit or miss for some. BrotherGrendel (545), San Diego (La Jolla), California, USA Sep 26, 2008 Translucent bright amber hue, thin ring of foam, sticky lacing.
Big, floral aroma marked by jasmine, lavender, lilac, along with sweet honey, grassy hops, and a touch of grain malts.
Taste is a big floral bouquet riding dry and bitter grass hops, honey and lighter fruits enter midway, faint malts, finishes dry.
Palate is medium-bodied, oily slick texture, amped prickly carbonation.
A unique floral-forward IPA with a formidable hop profile, a bit overwhelming in terms of fragrance and best enjoyed in smaller quantities. JCB (1710), Durham, North Carolina, USA Sep 19, 2008 22oz from Bottletrek. Wow, this is a really pleasant surprise. After a slightly tedious pour - big cloying head refused to settle down, making it a time-consuming endeavor - this turned out to be a very rich and flavorful IPA. Big nose is dominated by the floral notes, not surprisingly. At first the hops are very grassy, with some slightly sticky flavors towards the end. But very soon, the springlike flavors meld beautifully with the light hops, balanced by the subtle sweet jasmine and malts to give this brew a distinctive quality that really recalls a bright spring day. Excellent. Taverner (819), San Ramon, California, USA Sep 16, 2008 Updated: Oct 2, 2008On tap at Elysian. Copper pour with some white head. The aroma is nice, grassy and floral. Flavor is a strong bitter, with asprin notes in the background. The flavor then subsides to a biscuity finish. Notes of pine as well.
ON SECOND ANALYSIS: Bottled, you can really pick up the Jasmine notes. I don’t want to drink this as much as I just want to smell it all day! pepsican (882), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA Sep 14, 2008 Gold pour with a small white head. Aroma is heavy flowers and citrus hops. Similar flavor, some caramel and toasted malt. The flower really shines in the one, but drinkability might suffer a bit. Still a fun try.
