anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Aug 12, 2008 Draught @ Elysian Fields. Pours a clear amber color with a small white head.Has a fruity slightly nutty floral hoppy aroma. Sweetish malty hoppy floral flavor. Has a sweetish malty finish with some hoppy hints in the aftertaste. rocbyter (902), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Aug 11, 2008 Sweet candy fruit aroma. Cloudy orange color with little foam. Lightly sweet flower taste with a sharp bitter and lightly chalky finish. watery palate. Beer2000 (1775), Kristiansand, Norway Aug 7, 2008 660 ml bottle. Golden orange body with a lacing off-white head. Aroma is fruity, floral and a bit hoppy. Flavor is mild, harmonic sweet malt, floral, a bit spicy and a light bitterness. Nice and harmonic, but reminds me more of a spicy saison than an IPA. Very interesting, glad I had the whole bottle for myself. BREWMUSKCLES (1062), New Jersey, USA Aug 4, 2008 such a profound malt and straw flavor that (i am sorry) clearly reminds me of a horse farm. with the intense smell of hay as it... well processes its way around as one would expect at a horse farm. light jasmine aroma and flavor dissapates in short order from the bottle. light citrus hop flavor of grapefruit. low carbonation and moderate body just a bit of leathery and tawny earth. it is somewhat what one might call creamy i suppose. CelticBrew (676), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA Aug 1, 2008 Pours a nice hazy amber, forming small foamy head (22 oz bomber). Aroma of peppery flowers, hops, peat moss. Flavour was of heavily flowered beer, with a nice bitter and dry ending. There is also a nice maltiness that adds some flavour and character. A unique IPA, kudos to Elysian for trying something different. roder60 (1019), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 27, 2008 Pours dark clear yellow with white foamy head - doesn’t look like typical ipa. Minimal earthy hop aroma. Flavor watery, bit creamy with slight earthy pine hops. Not very good. robforbes (1083), Bremerton, Washington, USA Jul 26, 2008 pours a semi-couldy with a medium sized egg-shell head, good lacing.
smell of caramel, citrus, wild flowers.
taste is same as smell with a touch of malt in the back, slight bitterness. greenhorn1 (458), Mission Viejo, California, USA Jul 11, 2008 22 oz bottle from BottleTrek.com. Pours clear amber, with a few floaties. Big frothy head with nice lacing hugging the sides of the pint glass. The high carbonation release a floral and perfume aroma. Flavor is similiar, but a bit too sweet for me. Mild hop bite in the finish, but there is also a strong herbal presence. Definitely not your traditional IPA, but somehow it sort of works. Not my favorite, but brownie points for effort.
