Amber in color with a thin head. This had a sweet floral aroma with a deep hops hose. I liked the flavor which had a floral and hops flavor. The Jasmine was subtle yet there. It was very nice to drink and this was a great beer to chat about with friends.

Thanks to Oakes for sending this one out. Amber colour with a thin tan head. Fresh and very floral/herbal aroma, loads of jasmine aroma. The flavour is a bit soapy but not too distracting. Strong bitterness with a tea-like astringency that actually works for the beer. A bit of orange citrus hop flavour. Minerally/herbal bitterness. It’s good but I think the jasmine could be dialled back a notch.

GCBF sample. Light gold. Foamy head. Thin aroma. Hoppy without any burn. Lasting hop dryness in the finish. Don’t get much from the jasmine till the flowery finish.

Draft. Rich amber with an off-white head. Low citrus/pine/floral aroma. Orange citrus, pine, spice, floral hop flavors with backing malt. Medium body. Decent piney bitterness. Lilngering pine, spice, floral.

Pacific Northwest Vacation 2007

8/23/2007: I have been wanting to try this beer for awhile and was finally able to find it during my trip. In addition, Sean (illinismitty) recommended that I try it since he wanted to know my throughts about it... Elysian Avatar Jasmine IPA pours a cloudy/murky apricot color. It has an off-white, crackly veil that produces scant lacing. The intriguing aroma is quite floral and has some sweet candy and butterscotch in it. The flavor is somewhat difficult to describe, but it is definitely very, very floral. There is also quite a bit of pale maltiness underneath as well as a hint of tea. There is an average (mild to moderate) amount of bitterness for an IPA. The finish is somewhat dry and quite pleasing. This beer has a medium to medium-full body, is smooth, and easy to drink. It is pretty good overall and would definitely have to agree with my wife on this one. It is "definitely one of the more unique beers" that we have sampled!

22 oz bottle (Alcohol 5.6% by volume) from the general store in Glacier, Washington (only $3.49!) and enjoyed at the Ambrosia Historic Bed & Breakfast Retreat in Victoria, BC, Canada. Rating #95 for this beer...

10/08/2008: Elysian Avatar Jasmine IPA Hazy honey color with a minimal ivory-colored head that doesn leave some good lacing on the glass. Slightly sweet honey maltiness with a touch of butterscotch followed by some floral hops in the aroma. The flavor is very floral with a good hop presence in the front followed by some toffee-like maltiness, and a moderate level of bitterness. The Jasmine really comes through in the flavor nicely without being too overpowering. Overall this beer is nicely balanced and has a medium body with a soft palate. This is a unique IPA that is always enjoyable.

22 fl. oz. bottle (Alcohol 5.6% by volume) shared by alexsdad06 at the weekly Party Source gathering. Thanks! This beer is still just as good as the first time I had it...

A dense and very obviously bottle conditioned body, deep amber and attractive. A thin white head recedes slowly and leaves wide sheet lacing. The aroma is an awesome new take an what an IPA can be like in terms of floral expression - certainly adding copious amounts of whole jasmine flowers does what was intended. Jasmine lights up the senses with it’s restrained combination of perfumes and grassiness, followed by more eccentric notes of tangerine, mandarin ornage and grapefruit pith. The floral notes are indeed lovely and make this a desirable beer whether or not it has a rewarding flavor. Light toasted malt resides under the flora, as well as tea leafy earthiness. Alcohol is noted but very mild. The flavor has just as much jasmine as the nose and thankfully very little in the way of astringency, nothing more than mild. Sweetness is mild to medium and compliments the perfumed notes as well as counterbalancing mild bitterness. Acidity builds steadily with each sip. Finishes mild, lightly astringent and mildly hoppy, resin lingering long after floral notes begin to fade away. The mouthfeel is prickly and pretty highly carbonated, medium-full bodied and has very little stickiness, well done. This is very good and would be a wonderful companion to a wide array of Continental and Pan-Asian dishes.

Courtesy boboski. Pours a cloudy dark orange, with some reddish hues, and a small, but well-retained off white head. Wow, the jasmine surely does make its itself nown in the aroma, really floral and pleasant. Really masks the hops in the aroma. The flavor is not much different. Really floral flavors with the hops showing up in the finish and lingerin in the aftertaste. They are subdued quite a bit, but give it enough balance to keep the floralness underwhellming. The finish is sweet, almost like your drinking nectar from a flower, while dancing in a meadow. "Not prancng, just dancing." What an unusual, but refreshingly interesting brew. Ive never had anything quite like it. Kudos.
