3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 obxdude10 (1831) - Pottstown, USA - MAY 29, 2009
This is a pretty decent IPA, but it seems to be missing something. The beer pours a light copper color with a decent off-white head. The nose features hints of grass, caramel malt and, I’m just guessing here, those jasmine flowers. I have never smelled or tasted anything like a jasmine flower, so I’m assuming that’s what this unidentifiable flavor is. It appears in the body as well, naturally. This is a pretty well-balanced beer, but missed a bit on the overall inclusion of malt. There’s plenty of hops and other IPA-like notes, but this one just didn’t have the malty backbone that all the great ones have.

If you are not a fan of floral flavors, you will not enjoy this beer. I am however, which is why it’s one of my faves. So unique and quite well balanced in my opinion. If only they could ship outside of Washington....sigh

Not being a huge fan of N.American IPA’s I was deeply surprised by this one. Stunning easy drinking beer, the hops give it plenty of taste, but not at the expense of the subtle Jasmine flavour which lingers on the palate pleasantly.

Absolutely the worst IPA I’ve ever tasted! So flowery I thought I was drinking bubble bath. Avoid!
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 savnac (1478) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - MAY 16, 2012
22 oz bottle. Hazy golden orange with a small head and lots of floaties. Aroma is floral, perfume and dough. Flavor is bright floral hops that add a medium bitterness with some slightly sweet malt. Medium body with average carbonation and a soft, smooth mouth feel. Really nice IPA.

Interesting blend of floral and hops. Just think that the floral notes were over done a bit for my taste.

Tap at Spuyten Duyvil. Fairly clear orange with a small white head. Nose is potent jasmine flowers, some grape, ripe plums. Flavor is similar, super jasmine, tastes like you’ve got a bunch of blossoms in your mouth. Not enough hops and bitterness.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 wintyguy (38) - British Columbia, CANADA - APR 27, 2012
Draft from the Irish pub. Poured right to the rim with no head. Hazy copper in colour. Nice aroma, floral indeed. Taste is very cool with the jasmine of course, but also hints of cascades or maybe amarillo, as I got hints of tangerine, orange. But I’ve never had a jasmine flavored beer so, tough to negotiate through its flavors (jasmine). Overall I really liked this IPA, a very neat expression.
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 KornDogg (464) - Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 19, 2012
Bottle. Strong jasmine, rice and citrus aroma. Hazy orange body with thin lasting head. Flavor begins with orange, pine, jasmine with a mix of other floral notes. Bitter finish. A very unique IPA
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Aml42000 (381) - Washington, USA - MAR 24, 2012
From tap. Powerful floral, ester-y nose with some underlying pine. Medium bodied IPA with some citrus and the jasmine/tea flavors quite present. Balanced hoppy finish.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Morey (35) - Erie, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 15, 2012
22oz bottle with no freshness date. Sediment noted on the bottom of the bomber pre-pour.
Pours a hazy orange color. Not too hazy, but it’s not super clear either. White head stood over a finger tall following a medium pour. Lacing is all over the glass. Impressive. Head is still hanging on after more than 5 minutes.
Holy jasmine flowers Batman! It’s hard to get anything else from the aroma. A little bit of hops in the background, but you have to work to smell them.
More of the same in the taste. A large dose of jasmine up front. Maybe a bit too much? Some bitterness starts to peaks out from behind the initial wall of flower power. I’m also getting a bit of malty sweetness towards the back end. Finish is fairly clean with a lingering floral taste.
Medium bodied with a carbonation level that sits just below moderate.
A nice and very unique take on the IPA style overall.
Morey’s Bottom Line: Once in a while you run into a beer that stands apart from the rest. Sometimes because it’s elite, and sometimes it’s because it’s unique and different. The latter applies to this one. I have no way of knowing how fresh this beer is, but I could use a bit more hop flavor and bitterness to back up the bold jasmine flavor. It’s still a good beer regardless though.
