As an assiduous drinker of jasmine tea, I was expecting Elysian’s Avatar Jasmine IPA to be both profoundly familiar and profoundly revolting. It’s never a flavor whose manifestation into beer I opined on, publicly or privately. Somewhat surprisingly, and maybe even mercifully, jasmine is nowhere to be found - not in the aroma, and not in the taste. Rather, the aroma substitutes with a very faint and pale scent of sweet flowers, orange, and clove honey. I might even revise the description to add a bit of tangerine or mikan into it. The flavor is also on the sweeter, lighter, and more delicate side. Tangerine and clementine foil against some hops bitterness, before these exterior flavors thin out a bit and let more of that IPA bitter core show through. It then lightly ballets across the tongue on tip-toes before making a quick, quiet dive down the gullet. It’s a light, approachable beer, and would make a great substitute for Lindemann’s, which seems to be the gold standard for new and curious drinkers of “higher class” brews. But do be warned that, to this palate at least, there’s no real jasmine to be found.

22 oz bottle. Pours a thin lasting white head, with heavy lacing, over a basically clear golden (SRM 7) body, loaded with flocculated particles.....nose is floral and honey (jasmine and hops)....taste is light base malt to start, then heavy vegital bitterness, finishing with hop floral tones....mouth feel is medium, carbonation is medium. I did not like the vegetable flavors that came into this beer. It may have been abused previously, so that there was a lot of autolysis, or from the very bottom of the barrel (with plenty of flocculated beasts around) but something was quite wrong with this particular bottle. Maybe it was just too old, but there was no BB date on it.

On tap at the Arctic Club Hotel bar. Hazy ruby-amber with a strong white head. Nose is nondescript. Taste is soapy. Shampoo. Light sweetness of hops is overpowered. Didn’t work for me.

You would think that the IPA would just overwhelm the gentle jasmine but this really melds together well. Just the right amount of floral hops swirl together with the sweetness of the jasmine to create a really flavorful beer.

Poured a slightly hazy straw yellow. Nose was very feint floral notes with hints of bread and caramel. Taste was like a pale ale that someone left a flower petal in. Not very hoppy, moderate bitterness, body was thin and bland, the only thing interesting was the jasmine, which didnt add much since it had nothing to play with.

22 oz, 4.29 university market, you could definitely taste the jasmine, a little over whelming, sometihng different so that was nice but not something i would buy again.

A nice floral bouquet with hints of jasmine amid the hops and dominant malts. A dark orange beer with plenty of white head. A sweet malty body that doesn’t overwhelm the subtle hops and very sweet jasmine flavor. The floral finish lingers for a several minutes.

22 oz. bottle thanks to Scrizzz. Tried the imperial version at UBER, let’s see how this thing holds up. Nice orange color with a slight haze. Relatively fluffy head. A nice looking IPA. Slight flower aroma. I remember the imperial one being fairly aromatic, but this is not an imperial version. There is a fruity aroma with malts. Jasmine starts to show up as it gets warmer and warmer. Not extremely impressed with the aroma because it is rather weak, in my opinion. Now the flavor is a different story. Slight flower spice coming from the jasmine. The jasmine flavor is fairly obvious. Use of hops could have been changed to work with the jasmine. Slight malt flavor as well. A very smooth IPA. Overall, a nice IPA, but this thing wasn’t that hoppy. I appreciate the use of jasmine, but didn’t help the beer much.

22 oz Bottle, New Belgium brewed version. Pours an amber color with a smallish white head. Aroma is sweet jasmine, fruity hops, caramel malt. flavor is malty sweet, caramel, jasmine flower, floral hops, slight bitter finish. This one is a touch sweet to be called an IPA, great beer, but not an IPA.
