COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The dark side of the holidays, as treacherous as its paler sister. Brewed with Maris-Otter pale, Weyermann Munich, Castle Aromatic and roasted barley and black malts, with amber Belgian candi sugar added to the kettle. Bittered with German Northern Brewer, finished with Czech Saaz hops and fermented with Belgian Golden Ale yeast.

Tap. Brown/hazy pour medium carbonation and heavenly aroma of rich sweet malts and spices. Taste was just as good as the aroma; fig, plum, very deep and complex and warming on the finish. Really enjoyed this one!

Rating #737!

Pours a dark cloudy brownish-black with a pale brown head and some lacing. Light bananas Foster aroma - quite sweet. Light browned banana taste, opening up into fantastic spice, buttery pastry and sweet coconut! Smoky campfire notes as it warms. Creamy thick body, well carbonated. Great stuff - thick, spicy and sweet!

This definitely has the Belgian strong/dubbel aroma. Flavor is pretty good overall. Quite sweet and a little fruity, a pretty tasty beer.

Deep mahogany brown. Some cherry fruitiness, plum, fruitcake and brown sugar depth. Lively, fruity, juicy character. Nice dark sugar and breadcrust complexity. Alcoholic dryness in the finish. Combines Anglo and Belgian elements into a beer that is distinctly American. This is a fun sipper.

On-tap at Elysian Fields and Tangletown. Dark fruits, plums, raisins, figs blackened toffee and strong hints of caramel. Outstanding flavor profile, estery and very alcoholic without any "hot" spots. Great Belgian yeast profile, easy sipping and very dangerous.

Had on tap at Tangletown. Dark brown, unfiltered appearance. A holiday version of Elysianís Bete Blanche, I think. Darker in color, malty, caramelly flavor dominates. Not much hop flavor here. Pretty tasty.

Really enjoyed this Elysian Christmas beer. Pours deep brown with thin cappuccino head and lace. Smells smoked, of toasted malts, sugar and bitter chocolate. Taste isnít what I expected from the smell. Floral followed by chocolate and caramel. Unusual and works well.

Draft. Dark mahogony beer with a cream colored head. Rich malt aroma. Malt and molasses flavor with light yeast. Medium bodied. Mollases lingers with light yeast and light malt.

Draft at Tangletown. Entered as Elysian Brewing Company in the distro info because RateBeer Safe Mode will not accept parentheses, even from the Instant Place Finder. OK. Pours a hazy medium amber, slightly coppery. Thin tan head, dense and moussy but shallow. Plenty of candi sugar on the nose, along with some caramelly malty goodness and just a tiny trailing hint of spice. Body is on the high side of medium, creamy, a bit sticky in spots. Dense and satisfying. Mid-palate shows plenty of caramel, brown bread, candi sugar, and just the faintest hint of darker holiday spicing, though that could be from malt accents. Mild, sticky-sweet finish of moderate duration.

Heavy on candied sugar aroma, darker chocolate coffee flavor like a soft porto (not porter). Well balanced palate with a final bitter touch of hops. Cola like visual.
