Not too bad, but a bit raspy. Winter Ale's are usually a bit higher in alcohol which may account for the harshness. Although it is only 7.6% ABV ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear, light orange pour with a pillowy white head. Tons of beautiful, sticky lacing. Has a sticky, burnt caramel flavour fading into malts and a sharp hop bitterness at the end of the palate right as you swallow. Really nice winter ale, the 7.6% abv is perfect on this one.

Cider brown with a thin white head. Aroma is malt, with a bit of gasoline. Taste is righ and caramelly, but husky, with a harsh grainy edge that smooths out with the sweetness. $8/6pack

On tap @ Hopvine. Pours bright golden orange with medium lacy white head. Aroma is lightly sweet caramel malt with a oaky, hoppy finish. Taste is clean, crisp caramel malt with a big heavy bitter hop finish. Dry oaky notes throughout. Quite enjoy this style, keeping the malt light and plenty of hops. Rather light bodied for a winter beer, which I think works to its advantage. Not the dark super-malty beer you may be expecting with a winter beer.

This beer was intensely regrettable. Too sweet, and yet too sour, with a weird, sort of sickening whiskey barrel backflavor but no whiskey taste. It had a nice smoothness and (thank God) no real aftertaste. slick feel, medium body, heavy cloying sweetness, medium sourness, orange, clear, minimal head,

Poured from the tap. Hazy orangey yellow with white head. Mild sweet malt flavour with subtle caramel. Grassy hops in the background and on the finish. Dry end.

Earthy, floral, citrus aroma. Golden color with decent carbonation and white foam. Good mouthfeel light+ body with lots of layered hop flavor with a nice sweet bread flavor. Pretty tasty stuff, but could use a label change I thought it was a Belgian ale before reading the ingredients.

Winter Beer Fest, Philadelphia: Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is rather light, with some spice, pine, and the like. Taste is hoppy. Good amounts of pine. A little bit on the sweet side. It is a hard beer to characterize. Nothing special though.

Bomber. Pours a clear bright orange color with a small white head. A big aroma of sweet malts, toast, sweet tea and sugar. The flavor is more sugary toasted malts, the Munich comes in big here and provides a lot of the flavor and fits a bit oddly I think. Sort of spicy sweet Oktoberfest mixed with hops, mellow Crystal. Doesn’t really work for me. Seems like it should be way smaller. OK. Cool name.

I opened the bottle and expected a little more aromatic malt coming up through the neck, but gave it a purposeful pour and found a little more of the aroma I wanted from the mouth of the glass. The first quaff is a dry, bitter pine with an apricot sneaking up from the foundation, and the balance I expected from the malt is really something I’m having to reach for. The carbonation is nice, just right, I think; the head is soft, off-white. Although it doesn’t stay as huge as I poured, it definitely sticks around to the finish of the glass. I do enjoy a nice, long-lasting head. This isn’t going to be a beer I buy again, and I think this has a nice potential, but I am not a fan of the current batch.

Bottle. Light amber and hazy. Soft white head, not much retention. Strong malt flavor, contains some dark fruit sweetness. Sweetness focused in the middle, strong caramel flavor. Bitter, but not overpowering, finish.
