3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from bottle. Pours a rich red-gold color with a light tan head. Aroma of pine, toffee, and caramel. Initially when it hits the palate it tastes almost sweet and syrupy and maybe a bit of berry/cherry, then the hops kick in and it’s bitter and resin. There is a touch of alcohol burn at the end. Finish is fairly long with hints of bitterness, but mostly hops. Head dissipates fairly quickly, but leaves a significant amount of lacing on the glass.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Sprout’s: Appeared an amber orange with a limited sizing of foam. Aroma is pleasantly fragrant with a touch of piney hops and a balance of bready malts. The flavor taste of exotic hops that suggest citrus, pine, and oily acidic hop pellets. Flavorful beer and certainly a high ABV that was fairly priced. Shocked to learn this was an AB In Bev production.

Pine notes on the aroma and taste, orangish body and a foamy white head. Slightly bitter but well balanced.

Dry winter beer with limited spice. Meaty aroma. Malt fades and a tight bitterness that lingers. Really enjoyed this very cold.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Burger Tap Shake in Washington Circle, pours a hazy dark gold with some frothy, white head. Nose has pine and dried lemon peel, soap, some herbs, just a little bit of grist, a little pissy. Flavor has pine and lemon, some white grapefruit, some bouquet garni, just a little cracker malt. Bitter, dry finish.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Aromas of citrus, orange and bready malts. Pours a pale gold with a thin white foam. Taste brings orange, tangerine, earth, resin, malt funk, honey and grain malt. Finishes bland with an off maltiness. Overall, this stuff tastes muddled and is not refreshing.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle into snifter glass, golden-coppery color with white head. Aroma notes of heavy malt sweetness and light citrus/fruity hop sweetness. Taste adds more pine/citrus hop bitterness, caramel, slight nuttiness and light herbal/spice. Medium-heavy body, low-moderate carbonation, sticky, thick with roast fruity/citrus bitter finish. Very tasty winter ale, great tasty hop balance makes this more interesting than the usual sweet spice bomb.
