2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 GT2 (3972) - Washington DC, USA - SEP 1, 2011
Tap at Paradiso Georgetown. The pour is a clear, vibrant blood ruby with a thin, pink head. Diminishing quickly. Nose is sugary oatmeal with raspberry cough drops and stinging balsamic vinegar. Taste is vinegary, sharp, and very odd with medicinal cloves/camphor coming through numbing the palate. Tart overall with stinging vinegar. Extremely chalky palate with astringent clove/camphor and cherry cough syrup.
Something went wrong here...very wrong.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 riversideAK (4566) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - APR 10, 2011
Nose of tart cherries, juicy and fresh with notes of belgian yeast and biscuit/rbread notes as well as a possible touch of butter. Pours reddish, bright, nicely filtered, not much in the way of head or lace. The flavor is straight up cherry to start - sweet tart fresh cherry juice followed by light belgian yeast, a little spicy, a little bread, a little butter. The cherry begins to dominate as it warms, the mouth feel becomes a little heavy and lightly slick. I liked the idea but it didnt end up working for me. Bummer.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 after4ever (4500) - Brier, Washington, USA - MAR 29, 2011
Draft at the pike street. Pours a deep vurgundy with pink at the farthest edges and a lovely pink foam on top. Stringy lace. Fragrant pie cherry aroma, nicely restrained, no white sugar showing, just a nice stage for tasty fruit. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Tangy cherry presence on the mid palate, almost gets a little raspberry in there as well. Cohesive and balanced if not an absolute powerhouse compote of fruit flavor. Pleasant lingering mild cherry finish. This doesnt have the.intensity or effervescence of a great fruit lambic, but if theres such a thing as a near-sessionable cherry belgian ale, theyve dialed it in right here.
